Talking Delta 747-400 Special Livery

This Delta 747-400 is sporting the Georgia Aquarium Livery. On the sides are the stars of the Aquarium. A Whale Shark, A hammerhead shark, A group of Penguins, and a River Otter.

Sex-Ay! Sign me up for that one!

Seriously, though, I really hope that the merger with Delta only improves upon my third favorite airline, the legacy of Northwest is a terrific one and I would hate to see Delta mess it up, but what am I saying, Delta, it seems, can do no wrong.

Probably from 1989, since NW was a launch customer.

Delta sure will have a unique fleet once the merger finishes, assuming they don't dump anything. Every Boeing from the 73-777, along with the A320s and A330s.

Northwest was going to be the launch U.S. carrier fo rthe B787.This aircraft is presently in production

NWA NEW COLORS

B787 Dreamliner. This word may have a completely different meaning concerning this airline with the changes that will be taking place over the next few years. With that thought in mind, I feel that it's appropriate to acknowledge the aircraft in U.S. carrier launch colors. A tidbit of info on this plane. The prototype was delivered on 07.08.08, N787BA. The NWA aircraft is sitting in production on c/n34489 line 1 according to Planespotters. Though this model is a fantasy, at present day, I hope that it becomes a reality before the livery change. This would be a great event to take place for the airline, giving them the the honors of the first launch U.S. carrier for a Boeing aircraft. .

Will they attain all of Northwest's 747's or only a few? And how long will they keep them?

It will be great to see this Delta 744 in 1/400.

As much as I like Gemini in general, they need to fix their 744's where the pylons meet the wings.

So Dragon or Jet-X would be better.

Well, ti was dependent upon whether or not they got the merger through in time for the aircraft to be fully painted. Currently, to my knowledge, the only fully painted piece of the aircraft is the tail, so it would not be that difficult to get the aircraft repainted.

Sad that we will never see these in NWA colors, but at least I have my 787 model as a keepsake.

Hi All: I am new to this website. I am looking forward to a new 747-400 from Dragon, Gemini jets, or whoever in 1:400 scale. I fly the full sized ones, and have a Dragon model in 1:400 scale of each plane I have flown in my career.

There are 16 747-400s in the old NWA fleet. The first one in service was ship N6303US, and we (NWA) first flew it in January 1989. The first -400 to be painted will be going in the paintshop in December. After that, planes will be repainted to the DAL brand at the rate of one very 2-3 days. There will be no hybrid paintjobs, as was done with the NWA-Republic merger of 1986. They will retain the NWA paintscheme until they go into the paintshop, and emerge in DAL colors.

I also am working on the 787 program. With all the delays I haven't kept up with the painting aspects on them, but they will eventually be painted in the Delta brand as well. Current plans are to start training the instructors the second half of 2009, and line pilots several months after that.

Cheers,

DaveGee

IMO, Delta new livery is the best Delta livery. That livery would be nice on 744.

Welcome, Dave, and thanks for the very interesting information! I have not kept up with the NW/DL merger, so I appreciate all that you've shared. Should be interesting to see how long it takes the model manufacturers to produce the 744 and 787 in DL livery.

Yes, I hope the model makers come out with something next year in the new DAL livery. I have a question for anybody out there, is what is going on with Dragon models? It seems they have been on hiatus from making new airplane models, as well as action figures for several months, to even over a year. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Davegee

I believe the last entry for new releases on their website was November 2007 or 06'? I think they lost all of their contracts with the United States carriers, I think they all moved over to Gemini because of the better quality or something. I know they still make foreign airline models(I saw an A380 Virgin DW model). But yeah, it would be interesting to find out whats up with them.
