John johnson's request for several Northwest MD-11s made me thought "Hmmm... wouldn't it be interesting..."
Here's the result: a timeline study of NWA's scheme through their jet age. Other illustrations also added on my website.

LOOK! WHAT BEAUTIFUL ARE THEY!?
Hard hard to choose who win? I like the Northwest Orient as it look "mean and fllthy-look" the last two n/c looks sharp! The top twos looks very classic! Otherwise all of them looks so great! Many Thanks!

Fantastic!
Shame that they'll never get the MD-11. |

Thanks to whomever did this.
Being an MD-11 nut it is great to see what this beauty would look like in liveries that will never happen. Of the NW provided, I have to say that I like the second one the best. However, all are done quite well. Thanks again ![]() |

Whomever is Jetabout. He's only the most prolific What-Ifer at the dac. Don't forget the name.
Oh yeah, the 11s look great.

It looks like these "colors" were just made for the plane! Very nice job indeed. Though it may be rather unlikely that we will ever see a real MD-11 painted this way, what about a couple of MD-11F's?
You never can tell what may happen next at nwa??? Don ![]() |

Although this NW MD-11 will probably never exist, except as someone suggested would be a good freighter for them, I think seeing these various liveries really accentuates how bad the new color scheme is, at least in my opinion
