Default Air Pacific - not the flying milk bottle!

Air Pacific has chosen the Airbus A 330-300 for their long-haul fleet renewal programme. Delivery is set to begin in 2005. The airline has placed a firm order for 2 aircrafts plus 2 options.

The following scheme is a design meant to replace their current one which, though not eurowhite, is rather non-commital.

I have retained their colours and have revived the swordfish (marlin) logo. I have also added "Fiji" to their name and removed it from the horizontal stabilizer. The names of the aircraft are now more prominent. The 'wave' curls from the engine pylon along the fuselage. This particular illustration carries the name "island of Viti Levu", one which is given to their B747.

The new scheme in their current fleet plus what their planes look like right now.

Namaste !
Nice job ... hope FJ can generate good revenue this year and will soon renew their livery. I'm fail to understand why FJ had chosen the "flying milk bottle" c/s instead of their previous livery - whose colours covering about half of the planes' fuselage.

GREAT livery! Awesome job at getting the lines to flow... I'd love to see this in real life. Just another sign that the major design companies that do airline corporate makeovers have their collective heads stuffed and there is more talent here on this forum than should be allowed!

Thanks for this wonderful livery!

Here's the 742. It turned out better than I thought it would, if I may say so myself

Also included is the 345 which together with the 742 are named after the biggest islands in the Fijian archipelago.

Default Now that's HOT!

Fantastic work. As DAR said, there is much talent here and it's too bad that names like Landor continue to get the business based on work they did twenty years ago.

Thanks guys!

Not another Air Pacific, but still in the South Pacific, Air Nauru serves the island nation of Nauru (naoero). It is the smallest republic in the world, and the only one with no official capital city. More known for its phosphorus mine than its natural beauty, the island and its inhabitants faces the daunting threat of global warming which, with the rising of the sea level, means the habitable area will be swallowed by the ocean. Decades of mining have decimated 80% of this tiny island's nature, leaving jagged coral mounds in its wake. What still remains that is native to this island are the nightingale reed warbler (on the endangered list) the frigatebird (also threatened), and the tomano tree (ditto).

Why all this somber detail? just want to share the gloomy sight I saw as I was trying to find inspiration for their livery. I chose the tomano tree blossom as an inspiration for what is truly Nauruan (?). The stylized floral design is based on the 12 pointed star of the Nauru flag which represents the 12 tribes of Nauru. Same goes for the colours used. I usually like to put names to airplanes but since Air Nauru has only one aircraft....

Thumbs up The General's digging up the good stuff for review!

The General would like to see a flood of work from this Jetabout guy. His modern remake of Air Nauru is particularly striking with the geometric stylization of the tomano tree blossom.

How about it, Jetabout? Make this crusty old bastard of a warhorse smile when he looks over this forum!

Question

The General requests an all-points-bulletin (APB) for this Jetabout guy. Does anyone in the collectorate know where this artist has disappeared to?

First of all, thank you for the glowing response. I was away on an extended buisness trip so I was unable to post anything. But, I am back, and will post a new design soon.

Sorry to ruin it Gordon. I'll try my best to do worse

Anyway, here's a new addition to this series. This one is from Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides). The country gained its independence quite recently (1980) and has had a very tumultuous past both before and after colonization by the French, the Brits, and at one point both at the same time! This small archipelago is surrounded by beautiful beaches and some of the best diving spots in the world.

As far as the new livery is concerned, the base of the logo is a stylised boar's tusk. By far the main source of protein, boars (or pigs) are a symbol of wealth and prosperity. At one point, boar tusks are used as monetary device. The country's flag also contains a stylised version of them. The scheme is designed to look like an imprint of a boar's tusk on a sandy beach. To brighten the scheme, all colours of the national flag is used. The green represents the namele fern, a symbol of peace for the ni-Vanuatu.
I must admit that the result is still not as colourful as the other 2 airline liveries above.

Air Vanuatu operates a single Boeing 737-300, serving points in Australia and New Zealand, with points in Fiji and New Caledonia served through codesharing agreements with Air Pacific and AirCalin respectively. Air Vanuatu began operating in 1987 and operated DC-9s. Therefore on the following test I also added the Boeing 717-200. I chose the Dash 8-200 to show the Air Vanuatu Commuter scheme.
