From 1960s TV show, "Thunderbirds." Note the Matchbox cars and trucks in foreground and background, some of which have been repainted and otherwise modified. From "TV Century 21 Annual," a hardcover 1960s comic book: "Five hundred gleaming, pencil-slim Fireflash aircraft form the spearhead of World Airlines' passenger fleet, the largest and most up to date in the Universe. "Operating all over the globe, this huge fleet represents 30,000 passengers at any given time, for the Fireflash, with its seating capacity of 600, is the largest airliner in service. "Powered by six atomic engines sited in the elevated tailplane, the Fireflash has a cruising speed of 2,800 m.p.h. which enables it to fly to New York from London in one hour forty-five minutes. "Since coming into service in 2063, the Fireflash has proved its efficiency and plans are already under way for a larger version powered by cobalt engines."

Interesting Thunderbird trivia- the Fireflash is the only non-Thunderbird aircraft to appear in the show's closing credits.

My 5 year old is NUTS for this plane and makes models of it with everything from Legos to food! We have numerous drawings of it (or what proports to be it) all over the house!
When I first showed him the Thunderbirds DVD's (almost 2 years ago) and told him that this was a TV show from when I was his age, the first thing that came on was the FireFlash... Much to my wife's chagrin, our house has never been the same... ![]() If I could EVER find a toy or model of it, my son would go insane... (I don't think his Mom could handle it! )

Zero-X is kinda cool, too- it was featured in the 1966 (I think) movie "Thunderbirds Are Go". The assembly sequences in the beginning were intricate and still kinda cool to watch. Caught this movie earlier this week on one of the cable/satellite channels.
