![]() By request... the Continental L-1011!! I have to admit I don't know if they flew the -500 or the standard airframe, but hey, the -500 looks good to me! This was actually pretty easy... good cheatlines running the fuselage are a good thing! Steve Last edited by Steve; 02-03-2002 at 10:59 PM. |

In reality Continental leased a single L-1011-200 back in 1988 for extra duty, the aircraft was painted as above, and safety cards were printed, but thats as far as the plane went. Continental cancelled the lease before it ever entered service.

One of the safety cards was on eBay not that long ago... I also emailed Gemini Jets and suggested it as a future release. I think it'd make an excellent release, even as a Club model!
Great job on the pic Steve! Rick |

The General only has one word:
ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE! That was three words, but it's the same word. How about pleasing the General, Steve?

Found Steve's little beauty! Thanks, Mr. Hansen. The General has asked on the 1/400 forum if anyone had any photographic evidence of this bird or if this was one of the urban legends of the aviation enthusiast community...like the supposed Green Braniff 747....

Just a quick note here, Braniff in fact did have a second 747-100, N602BN and it was green. It carried the same titles / configurations as the well-known original Pumpkin Orange N601BN aircraft. Same muti-colored interior as well.
That aircraft spent time in the Wichita, KS while crews were being trained. It was never put into revenue service, and was eventually sold off to Northwest Orient who used it for many years. Both of those aircraft have long-since been scrapped. A piece of 601 hangs today in the lobby of a building here in Dallas. It's a piece of exterior panel, port side, just aft of the aft door...the piece of metal displaying N601BN. smokey eight dfw |
