Western Airlines 767-300
Its to bad that Western sold out to Delta before their fleet of 767`s were delivered. It would be awsome if Gemini or Inflight came out with a Western 767 just for the fact that it was actually ordered by the airline. You guys may have already seen this, but for those who have not. Here is an artist`s rendition.

Re: Western Airlines 767-300
A fantasy scheme indeed. Western's orders for the 762 (unlike the 763 pictured) were cancelled/converted to 732/733 orders long before the merger with Delta took place. Also, with delivery of the first 733 in 1984, the scheme was changed to the "Bud Lite" bare metal livery and, since the 763 wasn't introduced until 1986, a whiite fuse 763 would never have existed.

Re: Western Airlines 767-300
Yes I know the 767-300 is a fantasy and that Western had ordered only 767-200`s but the rest of the info I did not know. Thanx for the update.
I am a big fan of the Western livery and really would have liked to see a 767-200 in the winnebago scheme as well as the Western 707... I know it is a simple livery but sometimes less is more....

Re: Western Airlines 767-300
Born and raised in Salt Lake City. My fondest memories were boarding a 722 or DC-10 for LAX for our yearly trip to Disneyland. I remember forcing my mom to book on a spanking new 733 in 1985 to SNA. Thought it was the neatest thing in the world!
My dad would take me out to SLC on saturdays and we would roam the entire airport for hours on end. I loved the orange wall panels and orange and blue carpet in the C concourse and T2. And it was always great to see a couple of Frontier 732's sandwiched by a pair of Western 732's over on the even B gates (B2,B4, B6, B8)....we would finish it off with lunch at the Host restaurant in T1 with a good view of United and Republic parked out at the B and A gates respectively.
Another thing I LOVED was driving around the back side of the new D gates at night and seeing all the Western tails lit up by their logo-lights
Sorely miss the "W" and remember being disgusted (even at 11 years old) with the Western/Delta hybrid livery that started showing up in the summer of '87.
Ahhh the good old days!

There is a member on here "OnlyWayToFly", he used to fly for Western. Hopefully he can post some memories/photos on here.

Re: Western Airlines 767-300
Never got to fly on Western (or even see a Western bird in person), but I always liked their final bare metal livery. That would have looked pretty sweet on a 767-247!

Re: Western Airlines 767-300
I agree.. Back in the day we lived about 3 miles from Mccarron International and we would catch lizards in the desert right next to the runway. To this day I can still remeber the smell and warm blast of the engines as the jets turned out of the hold position for take off..
I remember mostly seeing Western, Delta, Branniff, Hughes airwest, PSA, Republic, United, TWA and a few others.. I used to walk the three miles to the airport, walk into the terminal and straight to the gates. Of course back then the security was lax. I would wait at the gate for all the passengers to get off the plane then walk down the jetaway and ask a pilot or attendant for a tour of the plane and cockpit.
The coolest memories I have are when a United flight attendant took me into the galley elevator and showed me the lower deck of a DC-10. And one other time I got to tour a United 747 leaving with a deck of cards, a pair of plastic wings and a safety brochure to prove to my friends I was on a 747...Awesome memories...
Thanx for sharing your memories Dylan. Our stories are very similar. Good times...

Wow, my gramma lived in Boulder City from 1979 until her death in 1997. I spent a lot of my youth pouring all over McCarren. I loved the old Hughes Charter terminal off Las Vegas Blvd. Always something interesting sitting over there.....not to mention all the aircraft always in storage on the west side. Small world man....wonder if our paths crossed at some point in the early80's/early 90's?
