The show is on September 13th at the Holiday Inn at Newark airport hosted by The Airplane Shop/Daron WWT. I have just booked my 'award' ticket on Alaska arriving Friday at 530p and departing Monday at 630p. This will be my first trip to the NY area so I hope to meet as many of my NY customers (at the show or anywhere else) as possible plus as many collectors here on the forum as possible.
Right now I haven't decided if I am going to be a vendor, or just spend the whole show pestering all the vendors! Either way it shall be a memorable trip and hopefully my credit card will be accepted at the hotel bar so I can treat as many of my diecast homies as possible to a free beverage (adult or otherwise). Yes, that even includes Crown Vic, Andrew, Don Kaylor, et al. ![]() Last edited by N. Eberhard; 07-03-2008 at 01:40 AM. |

I will be table 208 and they have left room for me to set up one of my dioramas, haven't decided which one yet. Looks like I'll be selling 150 or so 1/400 models, some kits, mostly 1/144 and 1/100. Whole lot of books, hope I have enough room to bring them. I will be driving over in the AM Saturday.

Hello all! I won't be able to come this year, but hope those who go enjoy the show! I've always enjoyed the airline collectibles show each time I've travelled to Newark.

It will be a brutally early wakeup call for me Friday morning (9 hours from now) to catch Alaska 8 from SEA-EWR. If anyone is staying at the Holiday Inn Friday night you will probably find me in the lounge (if they have one) so dont hesitate to say 'howdy'.

I don't know about everyone else but I had great luck at the show. I didn't really recognize anyone from here except for Steve and his SXM diorama... I didn't get a chance to say hi because he was busy with a customer when I wandered over. I was able to pick up 6 OG Southwests, a Mexicana a318, a Ted a320, a Volga Dnepr an-124, an ASA CRJ700 and some 1:500 catering trucks all for a little more than $100

Well, this was my first show and I have to say I had a great time. Although I brought my camera, I left it in the car as I was pretty busy most of the time, thinning out my collection (buy high, sell low). Selling low, you tend to draw a crowd but I have to give all the credit to my wife, she worked really hard all day to sell the models and we did a lot better than we ever thought possible.
Crownvic was there with the Airplane Shop, always a pleasure talking with him. They had a huge display of just about everything all scales, I took the opportunity to see and touch some models I had been on the fence about buying, I did pick up one 1/200 model I had been looking for. Andrew Klein was there although I wasn't aware of that until Crownvic pointed him out later in the show. AC had their latest releases for sale, since I didn't get over there until much later in the show, most of them were gone. I did manage to pick up the TIA DC-8-52, I would have liked to have picked up one of the AFR A300s but they were all gone. The Inflight DC8-63s were very impressive looking and Jetstreams had all the latest Inflights out on display. I may very well buy that DC8-63 someday when it is released in some other livery. I thought the crowd was pretty good, some other vendors said it was OK but the crowds used to larger in the past. It was great to have a show in the Northeast and I hope it continues in the years to come, I will always have a table. Although I only brought 1/400 models this time, there seems to a good market for old plastic kits, decals, and magazines all of which I have plenty to sell.

As a former East Coast NY/NJ resident I don't need much pushing to go/fly and visit, I used to live in Long Branch, NJ and is always good to go home. Next time I will be there.
Regards!!!

Well I got to meet Mr.Crownvic at the bar,,,,,,oops...I mean the display stand. Nice of him to take a look at N812PA that I brought to show him. I got there late and didn't have much time to meet other members. Lots of cool model kits and outstanding display models there.
Did some spotting on the way home ....Good day's worth of airplanes.

After a brutal 6 hr flight EWR-SEA, then a short SEA-GEG flight I finally returned home at 12:15 am local this morning (3:15 am to me).
Brad is correct...some great spotting at EWR once the rain and low clouds cleared out. At the show I found an elusive HAL L1011 courtesy of SteveJ and picked up the rare 1/500 Thai 777 nc. Since I had a full day planned in NYC with a most gracious host, we both left the show by 11am. Below are a few photos of the show; can you tell that CV is the ham of the show? Kinda weird that CrownVic and I were similarly dressed - scary. I will post some NYC photos later in a different thread. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by N. Eberhard; 09-15-2008 at 02:30 PM. |

The JetCollector contingent was [somewhat] present (that would be myself, Q-man and his son) along with a few good friends like Mike and Art.
I do miss the good old days of show in the morning and EWR spotting in the afternoon. Those of us in attendance at the EWR show on 8 Sept 2001 remember standing at the base of the toothbrush not 20 feet from jets taxing to 22R for take off. Those were the days...

I could KICK myself for missing the show. I was off from flying, too, since I'm recovering from appendicitis surgery. I remember the show of 2003, where a whole group of us went out to dinner afterwards, along with more than a few libations...
Some members who showed up have since disppeared, it was always a cool way to meet people behind the screen name and see all the merchandise in 3-D, I like the tables with old airline memorabilia.
