Lace Up for Charity

Date of Release: 2008-02-29

On Saturday, June 21, 2008, the GTAA will be hosting a new and very exciting event at the airport – a Runway Run!

Come out to the airport to run or walk along Runway 06R-24L. Raise money for the William Osler Health Centre’s Emergency Department at Etobicoke General Hospital, and have a lot of fun. There will be two events: a 5 km timed run, and a 2 km family run/walk. And yes, the runway will be closed for this event.

To facilitate this run/walk, the GTAA has partnered with the Running Room to provide assistance with registration and race support. To register or make a donation, see the Running Room webpage for this event.

This Runway Run is open to everyone who wishes to participate; however, space is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment and to save on the entry fee. Runners/walkers are encouraged to come out individually or as a family.

About the Charity

We chose to raise funds for the William Osler Health Centre to honour the airport’s ongoing relationship with the hospital’s Emergency Department. Along with other hospitals in the area, William Osler provides excellent service for the GTAA's emergency response team.

Experience the Evolution is a campaign that will renew the facilities and resources available to Osler’s emergency care teams in order to get the unit running at an even higher level. Plans are underway for new sub-acute and paediatric areas. Your support will directly benefit the tools and spaces used to care for people when they need it most.

More Information

For details on race kits, times, locations, pledge prizes, sponsorship, and more, make sure you visit the Running Room webpage on GTAA.com.

We look forward to seeing you on our runway on June 21!

Would be so much more interesting if the runway was active!
