Default pics of tin plate models

The other day Eduardo has mentioned tin plate models - this induced me to look after my models which I haven't taken out of their boxes for several years. I was pleased to hold them in my hands again. Kind of rough, as Eduardo already said, but nice craftmanship with some antique touch. Except for the weels, which are wood and rubber, these models are entirely made of metal, that is embossed tinplate, wires and some diecasted white metal parts (e.g. pilot figures).
I have once bought these planes in London. Does anybody know whether such items are still in production?

Ralph Hello!
Mine are made in England but the wheels and tires(if I remember correctly) were tin plate also.
I think the name of mine are Heco or something like that.
Mine were stamped with the name on the bottom of the fuselage so I'll check that at home tonight.
If anyone knows where these are available , I'm interested!
I have two, one a SPAD and the other an Albatross.
I was planting to get a bunch of them, specially DrIs and AlbatrossV but it was not meant to be.
I'll try to post some pics soon, would love to see pics of yours!
I was looking at some 1/48 WWI diecast that I got about two years ao in ebay and they are just TOO small. i like 1/32 for these models as they go well with my toy soldiers. Frontlines(Nice toy soldiers made in china) used to make a set(they might still do) of personality flyers of WWII that are a nice complement to the models.
I have seen pictures of some beauties in wood by King and Country (Also of Hong Kong)but SUPER expensive and huge, they must be 1/24.
If I can find an appropiate base for pictures i'll post them quickly.
Take care,
Eduardo

my tin plate planes were made in Japan by Alps, Line Mar, Nomura, Tomiyama, Yonezawa ...

Default Here are some pics

Took these pictures tonight, decided to go with a black base to see the vanishing effect with the dark background.

That was quick, Eduardo! Great pictures - the black surroundings are just perfect. Like the figures, too.
I checked my models and - voilą - one of them (the red monoplane) carries the HECO stamp on the bottom. The other one doesn't, but since it came with an identical box I believe it is from the same manufacturer.
Is HECO the company (the elder couple you mentioned) that gave up production? I would like to learn more about these tin plate products. Maybe our fellow collectors from UK could help us?

Ralph,
I knew your models looked awfully familiar!
Had a feeling they were Heco, but of course Heco is the ONLY ones I know so it was a stretch UNTIL you mentioned you had bought them in London.
Yes they are the company that I had planned to order some models and at that moment they decided not to take more orders. If I remember correctly they were a team in which one made the models and the other painted them.
They also made some nice buildings like those cylindrical huts where air force personell would live in the airfields of England in WWII. They also made vehicles, not just planes. I'll look into them again, as all my communication s=was through a good friend retailer of mine in the UK.
If I find out anything I'll let you know.

Nice!! I must admit, I never realised tin plate models were made to such a standard, thanks for posting pics.
