In my opinions, the scales needs to be more diverse. Right now they are grouped too close together: 32, 40, 44
None of which are really popular scales. In terms of military planes, most people would buy 1/72 scale, 1/48, and maybe 1/200. Otherwise it would be hard to convince someone this plane belongs in their collection. As for the material, I always liked diecast metal for military planes - and I prefer 1/72 scale. Without more pictures of perfectly side, front, back...etc, I can't really comment on the accuracy of the model. If you want to sell military models, learn from the examples set by the two best companies for 1/72 scale: century wings and hobby master 【 CENTURY WINGS 】 Aircraft Diecast Model --Top page-- Hobby Master Remember accracy is very important. Good luck!

Very nice model. I prefer 1/48 myself but if I were to examine one up close I would still probably buy one.

I believe Gaincorp made the J-10 in 1:48 and 1:72 scale, you can find them on ebay
1:72 Gaincorp J-10 Multirole Fighter Aircraft J10-72 - eBay (item 120494706048 end time Nov-24-09 22:16:04 PST) and 1:48 Gaincorp J-10 Multirole Fighter Aircraft J10-48 - eBay (item 120494705755 end time Nov-24-09 22:13:52 PST) So if this new company wants to succeed, they would have to do better in both detail and quality compared to Gaincorp's J-10. Otherwise it would be a waste of time and resource.

The advertised model is a display presentation model. Those models were originally designed for marketing the real planes, before people started to collect such models and formed an own customer group beside the airplane companies.
This model is not directly comparable to the current die cast models being mass produced ONLY for collectors. It is resin made, has a stand and no gear. I assume, this model was also made for the primary reason to promote the export version of the real J-10. In case an export of the model is considered as well... I don't expect a big business. There are tons of Eurofighters and Rafales in the same scale and style floating around here in Europe and they hardly sell for more than 40,- Euros. I expect a market value for this F-10 here in Europe of not more than 30,- Euro, as the type is not interesting for most European collectors. The (market price-) situation would turn out differently, if the used material would have been aluminium. I guess, there are still many collectors out there waiting for a new company (even in China) revitalising this traditional material for making desktop plane models. |
