Hey Everyone, I recently purchased these two planes and I dont really know much about them, hopefully someone could tell me the value of them? The AA 747 isnt in the greatest shape, its missing a set of landing gears and another set is detached. Plus its got quite a few scratches. The VC 10 is in great shape except its missing the tail wings! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

these are highly rare finds made by AeroMini in Japan, before they shifted their production line to Flamingdale, US and then it was taken over by one Mr. Peckham. The Aerominis made in Japan are extremely rare and demand top dollar if sold in the market. btw where did you get the AA B747? both the AeroMinis that you've got are highly sought after.

I second karun83. I have both models, mint condition, and I"ve seen values of over $200 for the VC-10. Did you get the stand with the models.

Never seen the VC-10 withg a missing tail piece before. I guess you need somebody to take an original piece, have someone make a cold silicon rubber mould, and then cast a "white" metal copy. I could probably take a look at mine and cut you a plasticard properly shaped piece. It won't be fancy, but it will look better than nothing. Looks as though you'd just have to glue it on with a bit of PVA or Evostick. Superglue doesn't work so well with plastic. Any help ? |

I have the very same Aero Mini AA B-747 (shown here with my Aero Mini Pan Am B-707):
![]() I got both in the '70s and they saw a lot of play when I was a kid. But at least I still have them! My dad got them for me when I was like 11 0r 12, so they are really special to me now. The 707 is missing an engine nacelle, but is otherwise in great shape. The 747 is missing all of the AA decals and several landing gear, but it still stands on the remaining wheels. I'd love to find decals and restore the 747. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. On a related note, I just ordered this: It looks to be pretty awesome, I can't wait to get it! The Boeing 747, the coolest plane, ever. A few years ago, I got to sit in the Captain's seat of a brand new, fully fueled 747-400 at Boeing in Everett, WA, where my sister-in-law works. One of the peak experiences in my life, followed closely by flying overseas in one. By the way, this is an awesome forum!!!

Welcome aboard Mr Jumbo. Not so much going on with Aeromini these days. Guess you've been scanning the bay for the odd bargain ? You'll probably have to buy a junk 707 to get that engine nacelle you're looking for. They're around, try swapmeets if there are any in your area.
Decals: There will be something that you can cobble together somehow I reckon, but I'm no expert on U.S. model shops. I believe the 747 is 1:292 scale while the 707 is 1:250 If you're a clever young fellow you could find a large AA sheet for a 747 and scan it down on your PC and then print out on decal paper. Big problem is that the ink is translucent. You could apply 2 sets one over the top of the other but be careful not to stretch when applying. Let the first one dry before applying the 2nd. Good luck ! Last edited by Graham Bridges; 07-04-2009 at 04:31 PM. |

Just remembered that I think the AA 747 has a white strip in there somewhere so you'd have to lay a white decal strip exactly the right size underneath where you would place the PC decals.

It will definitely take some research and work, but it will definitely be worth it. While I'm at it, I am going to repaint the 747's silver finish.

Re: Aero Mini's. Hello Forum, long time away. I am a part-time artist who has been customizing Aero Mini's for about six years now to support my addiction - auto racing. I have sold on ebay and have had several regular customers who kept me busy but they have retired or scaled back so I have some time now to do more planes for everyone else. I have done every livery under the sun. I have stretched 727s and DC-9s, shortened DC-8s and 707s and stretched several 747s into -400s and added winglets.
For you guys who need nacelles, tails and engines, I have OEM and resin versions. If there is something you need send me a PM or email and we can get you what you need without you having to buy an entire plane. In some cases I will give it to you if you send me postage. My dad used to bring me these after his business trips and I know much they mean to many of us so you don't need tail-less and engine-less AMs on your shelves. If you want customs, they are the same price they have always been - $150 plus about $7 to ship it back depending on the planes (747s are heavier). Unfortunately, I cannot/will not tell you my decal making secrets because that's how I make my money and I get emails weekly asking. Also, I cannot make you decals in 1/239, 1.250 and 1/290 - too many copyright issues and lawyers are expensive. I have many Aero Mini originals and customs, as well as, original Airomini's just sitting around that I would also part with and some custom Gemimi 250s. Something you want to see, just PM me. Here are a few from the archives. Most all are Aero Mini plus some other 1/200s. http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/shuttle3.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/KF1.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/PSApink4.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/cruizerodc9.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/easterngf.JPG http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fu...nacargo707.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fu...%20electra.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/vir5.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/easterngfdc8.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fu...lbrunei737.JPG http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fu...c861gemini.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fu...dmontys11s.jpg |
