Someone was nice enough to tell me they thought this model was a older pacmin model of the American Airlines 727 Astrojet. It is pretty old and a little beat up. What can I do to restor it? And how can I find out more about it. It was at an AA sales office in Los Angeles in the early 70's. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. Base is made of metal and aircraft seems to be made of resin or heavy plasic.

Pelle, this is an antique model - in my opinion you should leave it as it is. It's in pretty good shape for its age, so please don't try to restore it. I have several travel-agency models from the 1960s and they just wouldn't have that vintage feeling if they were all touched up.

I'm with 727 pilot on this, Its better left as is. I have been collecting these things for some 35 yrs now and I have a few models in my collection in a similar condition to your 727 and I would not want to attempt to "restore" or "upgrade" any of them, they are what they are and its part of their charm. If you want a pristine example IMO you have two avenues: Time travel or get Atlantic or Pacmin to make you one, by the way your Astrojet does look like an early Pacmin so let her be just that.....but of course its your model

Well at least the eagle is the correct style for the logo.
There should be a service door between the American and Airlines. Also, the registration number should be lower and just forward of the rudder. ![]() |

from what I've had and seen from my past experience is its an old Wesco model and is hollowed plastic, there should be a seem separating the front half from the rear half, there might be a tell-tale sign of it. the older Pacmins had the #2 reverser hump on the extreme lower trailing edge of the rudder. the stand is from another aircraft and was probably mated at a later date. the original stand should have looked looked something like the present day Pacmin stands.
