Fortunately the real planes don't have such awful take offs and landings, sharp turns and quick descents
......There would be too much cleaning up inside the cabin from all the barf flying around However yes, I would love to have one of these myself. |

Wow! Now you know darn well those R/C models must cost thousands of dollars. My jaw dropped when I saw all of them on the "tarmac" in the first KLM 747 video. Loved'em!
I'll take this 777: YouTube - Boeing 777 Takeoff - Radio Controlled R/C Model

I wonder how many different scales these R/C models come in? This one is huge, I think 1:16:
US-Airways I read somewhere this guy sells kits of the R/C Concorde.

That Air France A340 in one of the videos, is big enough for one of them to ride it.

I know I know. My guess is that these would be priced around $2000-$2500 each, a price I'd gladly pay for one, but the question is, are there manufacturers of these models that you can buy them readymade or are they built to order?
I know we have an RC club here who meet up every Sunday at an abandoned airstrip and fly their planes and one of them is an F-16 which I saw and it was awesome. They gave me their card and told me to drop by but to date I haven't gone. I think its time I paid them a visit. If I could have one of these built to order I honestly don't know what I'd want made, a 744, 773, A346?? The possibilities are endless.

I've contacted two of the guys who have videos on youtube, to inquire.
If I could have one built to order, it would be a Delta or Eastern L-1011. But it would really depend on the scale. You saw how large that 1:16 scale A330 is. Geez.

Well you think an A330 is big in 1:16? Take a look at this 1:16 EY A380:
YouTube - RC Airbus A380 Turbine Powered YouTube - RC A380 Whats amazing is how they manage to land them so smoothly. However things can go wrong too lol: YouTube - A380 crash

I don't think these would give you the same feel as flying on FS2004
....At least there you get to fly into an airport anywhere in the world ![]() |

The thing is, it's hard to put into perspective how large these models are until someone is standing next to them, and even then, it's really hard to tell because you don't know how tall the person is. lol. But yeah, these things are huge. I would want something a bit smaller, like the A380 that crashed. But I like how the larger ones sound as opposed to the smaller. They are so cool, though.

Well, guys I was roaming around the forums and saw this thread... I have seen these babies fly and let me tell you, it is just amazing. I doubt there is somebody that being an aviation enthusiast wouldn't just love to have one, but the downside is that learning to fly these planes is awfully difficult, before you can fly one of those you have to learn with many smaller (and much cheaper) models, because you'll ruin many of them.
I've a friend that works for an advertising company as a pilot of a r/c blimp, he's a national champion of r/c aerobatics and even him does not fly somebody else's model because is so risky and so damn difficult.,... They sure look awesome though... |

Well a friend of mine contacted this guy in Germany who owns most of these models you've seen the vids of and he makes them himself and doesn't take any orders or sell them. He does one model per year. So much for that!

Then I'm surprised to learn he doesn't sell them. I read somewhere he sells a kit of the Concorde. I guess he has since changed his mind! Maybe he was receiving too many orders (or too few).

Unfortunately it costs between US$25,000-$40,000 for you to have any of those planes you've shown as those are powered by real miniature jet engines. |

Well my friend got another reply from the same guy and he has agreed to sell two of his models. Which ones they are I don't know yet but he has stated an October delivery as possible. As for the price I better warn him.

Also, he flies an R/C blimp for an advertising company... pretty impressive to see, really. Especially when that thing flies in a stadium!!
