Hmm looks ok. Pylons not perfect but better than Gemini. Passenger window line a tad high. If I can find a good price, e.g. one that `fell off the back of a truck' as they say, I may get one for repainting and extra detailing (first detail: new proper/long fin tip antenna!). |

where did that picture come from? The picture on the Corgi site shows it with the long antenna. Also your picture shows #1 engine with curved pylon (turbo compressor) when it's supposed to be straight. I contacted a retailer who said all the models he has have the straight pylon. Finally, how can you tell the passenger window line is too high from the angle of that picture. It looks pretty good to me as does the cockpit height. Anyone know if this plane is all painted or if there are decals? Dave |

I took it from the airplanesuperstore site. www.airplanesuperstore.com If you ever want to know where people get images posted on these UBB forums just right-click on the image and then click `properties'. You will see the URL it comes from. Re: the things you pointed out...well maybe that shop got a different sample. I forget if the VC-137s/Air Force One 707s have 4 turbo compressors (i.e. different no. 1 engines). The window line...well over the wings it looks like a big drop to the wings where the emergency exits are. But everyone has their own `eye' for such things and that is one perspective I am sensitive to. Here is the Corgi image of the Pan Am. It does look better than the superstore image of the VC-137. I don't see an Air Force One image on the Corgi site. (Later ah here it is.... hard angle to judge window line.. but you are right..does appear better than superstore's image and the number one engine has the straight pylon!Let's assume Corgi's samples got better , not worse! ![]() [This message has been edited by niels (edited 29 June 2001).] |

Well Niels,
unfortunately the corgis got worse not better. My retailer bum-gouged me. Your first picture at the top is the production model, short antenna, compressor in #1 engine. Apparently the other picture (and the one on the box by the way) is of the resin prototype. It has the long antenna and straight pylon for #1. What is it with these companies? Do they think we won't notice or just that we won't care? Also, why the silver paint on the bottom, chrome would have looked better and we know they have the capability. Oh well, too bad. The little things really detract from what otherwise seems to be a very nice mould and model. Dave |

I saw this model at my local retailer and was dissapointed at the short antenna on the vert. stab. This really detracts from an otherwise nice model!

I think it is tough to compare a model in 1/144th scale to a 1/400th scale model. When anything is smaller you lose detail. I have both Gemini and Corgi. Can not compare one to another due to scale factor!

The picture you show is of a 707-227, these aircraft, along with the -4** models of BOAC, LUFTHANSA, VARIG, AIR INDIA etc, did have the
'dog box' on top of the #1 engine (the curved pylon you refer to). But all the -3** aircraft, which Cogi have modeled, have a straight fairing in the #1 position. I hope this explains the situation. |
