This is my list of "top 4" of German tin toy models:
- Maerklin JU-52 - Tipp Co Super Constellation (better than Arnold!) - Schuco Radiant 5600 (Vickers Viscount) - DUX JU-87 Stuka While the first three are able to get in for reasonable price (the Maerklin as replica), the Stuka is a hard one... I was now lucky to find a JEP (French post war) with some missing parts for low money. The prop and the flaps of the main wings were missing. "Easy" to rebuilt. Please have a look at the result. It made up my Eastern vacation. Greets Chris |

Hi Chris!
Looks good - although I must say I'm not really in to military models... #2 and #3 in your list are more familiar! I also love the Schuco Radiant 5600! I have one from the early 1960s. Unfortunately one of the rubber tires was damaged. So I wrote to Schuco after they had started the limited remake of the Radiant and asked them if I could buy a spare tire. And tell you what: They sent me one for free! That was really very kind! The Tipp&Co Connie is also a tin-beauty! Do you have a model in working condition? Those things are really very expensive! But still, the Arnold Constellation is also a nice sight... ![]() When I bought this model it had two plastic wing tanks. Are they original??? I have seen the plane a few times on eBay - but always without the tanks. In Frederic Marchand's book "Avions Jouets" it is also displayed without this feature. Anybody got any information on this??? And where could I get two replacement propeller blades??? Kind regards! Michael |

My TippCo Connie is a very old one, which I got on a Munich flew market one year ago for 30,- Euro. It was complete, but overall coated with tons of clear coat. I have restored it as good as possible, including the working functions (lights and friction drive). There is a seperate thread existing for this plane:
http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...ation-klm.html While my first priority so far were display agency models, I turned a little bit to tin toy planes (opposite sequence than your's.. ).Basically I would like to exchange my Connie vs. a better one, and next on the list of new models should be TCO CV-440 and Arnold DC-6. Also the TCO 707 as well as GAMA Stratocruiser, Concorde and 707 would be fine... The Tip Tanks of the Arnold Connie are original. As far as I know, some models were sold with and some without those plastic tip tanks. From those, which were sold with, they are today missing in most cases. Greets Chris |

The replica is fine (and usually without zinc-corrosion..
).I do not need the original one. A few month ago there was an FW-200 prototype from Märklin on German Ebay. That was the hit! The seller removed the auction after a few days.... Don't wanna know about the amount of money given for that thing. Chris |

That is interesting. I have long wondered if there is something like that on the wing of my KLM example. It's thankfully not paint. I kept it "as is" because I was satisfied with the original condition.

I think you can order the tip tanks from a place in the States? They make after market parts plus repair them.

GR Webster (Plane News) has written an illustrated article entitled "Dive Bombers" covering the DUX Stukas for "Toy Collector Magazine" on line.

Richard, I have not seen any but they certainly weren't standard equipment on all Arnold Connies. I think very few came with the tanks but I don't really know! |

A few days an Arnold TWA-Connie was sold on eBay with tip-tanks.

Of course, if the plane does not feature them, it is not possible anymore to figure out, if they are missing or never used. I would not spend big money for replacement parts, since the plane is looking good also without them. |

I was watching the prices for three TWA Constellation on line auctions. The first was an Arnold with the box. The second was a Japanese Alps brand with see-through fuselage and remote control. The third was a Japanese Tomiyama (Yonezawa) with replaced front nose wheel. The last two mentioned were from the same seller.
