Default douglas factory delta dc 8

I just received this model. My first venture into this type of model. All I can say is 'wow". It's quite impressivel, huge. ... and in great condition. It didn't come cheap, but these models sure are something.

Anybody have a similar model? Any recommendations, thoughts? Thanks.

Dino, a very nice model indeed, looks to have been a good buy. I have a metal 1/50 scale Lockheed Starliner in TWA livery which I am told was made by a company called Riffe back in the late 50s and has an original stylised metal TWA Jetstream stand, like your DC8 it is very heavy and I guess pretty rare. Out of a collection of around 60 resin and fibregalss models the Starliner is the only metal one I have. The fact that yours is an original Douglas factory model adds to its value and desirability...enjoy it

I have two 707, one 727 and one Caravelle in scale 1/50, all of them are full metal.
The first buy always appears to be "fantastic", if you get more, you just wonder where to put them...

I also wonder about the prices meanwhile paid for these Douglas models. There is a mass of them rotating in the USA. As far as I know, Douglas made one model for each sold unit of DC-8 and DC-9, and these are not few.

I always wanted one of those. I ought to search for them on line. I only look for the old toys now.

A mass of them rotating in the USA? Seriously? Please tell me where I can find more of these models. I haven't gotten wind of this if this is true.

We are all dealing with rare models, so if I say "a mass", it does not mean a distribution like Herpa.

From these Douglas models nearly each week one pops up on Ebay. Right now you can buy an AA DC-6.

Thank you.

Is that a Douglas factory model? The item description doesn't say.

If you are only looking for auctions, which include a full item description, then of course those models become very very rare...

You should consider, that many sellers do not know about the origin of the models. They may found on the bulky waste, for what collectors are paying thousands of Dollars.

Douglas Factory Models are the nicest. You've just now to find from the DC3 to the DC9 including the different versions !
They are worth this price, specially if in good condition.
Rgds.
