New tin Dc-7
I was passing through Holland the other and had a few hours in transit, so I decided to visit
Luchtvaart Hobby shop. This place is massive and they have everything. They even take in old kits from people. The had a lot of old aurora airliner kits at the time I visited and I also found this in the back room. The Tin DC-7 isn't very big but I had to pick it up as these things are getting more and more rare. I need to track down some props for it next. |

That is a DAIYA DC-7C from the mid 60s,
 it came in several color schemes,I have that one, also a Seven Seas and American Airlines. The AA has a Bandai trade mark on the tail fin. I can also think of these off hand: Lufthansa - 60s colors Lufthansa - Late 60s colors That's weird! Why would they make a LUFTHANSA DC-7?  And two versions?Pan American (hybrid scheme) SAS United - 60s colors OK, I know I have seen others but I am drawing a blank!

Your knowledge is quiet amazing. why don't you do a book on tin airplane toys? I would buy on for sure and I think many people would.
Do you know of any place that would make props for this thing? |

Joe Freeman's "Tin Toy Works" (Allentown, PA, US) makes larger-sized plastic four-bladed props @ $15 apiece, but no small props. I would leave them as they are. They still look intact, just missing a couple blades. In order to replace props like those, one would have to detach the shafts from the internal springs, leaving the springs and shafts both loose once the new props have been attached. All-original is best!

I got this YONEZAWA Japan Air Lines DC-7 last week.
Having a 12" WS it is half the size of the more common big battery-op versions. It's not perfect, but it is nice and shiny and I always wanted a JAL !

 Usually encountered in Pan American livery.
