Unbelievable!!! U.S.S. ENTERPRISE in 1:48
Check this: www.roadland.de/bau.htm#drei I’ve seen this model in person on a model show in Dortmund/Germany. Since many years an Austrian guy is building this model based on thousands of photos. He has full Navy support after he presented them his project and some detailed pictures. He decided to do it in 1:48 because at least nice kits of the jets where already available. On the show he presented just the middle part of the carrier. The rest isn’t ready yet but he had pictures with the swimming hull. It’s almost 23 feet long! It has no details so far. Facing the great details I asked him how long he will need for the whole carrier. His answer: 10 years minimum I don’t have any doubts. (I mean it will take that long and he will do it)

I wish him luck, but I can think of a lot of things that are more worthy of 10 years of someone's life.
