Just wanted to share a new addition

Just received this today. I think it is around 1/72th scale. with the exception of just a few minor nicks it is perfect. Let me know what you guys think.

No this is not the one,....however this one does have a very interesting history to it. I recently aquired this from a man needing to sell it to pay for surgery for his search and rescue dog. It was given to his wife by her grandfather, Edgar N. Eisenhower brother of Dwight D. Eisenhower; That, I have documentation on. I want to see if I can trace it back to Dwight D. Eisenhower. As supreme allied commander during WW II he had a C-54 (military version of the DC-7) at his disposal to take him wherever he needed to go. His brother Edgar was a corporate lawer in Tacoma WA and not directly involve with the aviation community, I thought it somewhat odd that a model airplane be given to a woman as a gift, it was given to her in the 1950's, she would have been in her early 20's (?), although Seattle is BIG aviation community, it is not the home of Douglas, so I thought I would do a little research on the plane to see if it possibly was given to President Eisenhower as a presentaion model during the war or shortly there after.

I would be more interested in the fate of the dog than the story about this model. This is some kg of aluminium and it will always be, independently who had it in his or her hands.

Tell us more about the dog.

The guy sold the plane to take care of the dog, I image that the surgery has yet to happen, I have asked him to keep me informed as soon as he knows. So in turn I will let all of you know.

A C-54 is actually a version of the Douglas DC-4. The U.S. military never purchased the DC-7.

There is an original Douglas factory model of a C-118 on sale at Ebay, which appeares to be the military version of a DC-6.

I heared, these models go for up to 3500,- USD. Or was it 35.000 USD? I don't remember exactly...

Douglas DC-6/C-118 Liftmaster
The AircraftBased on the success of the Douglas DC-4/C-54, the U.S. Army Air Force requested Douglas to develop a larger capacity aircraft. The prototype XC-112 first flew in February 1946, too late for participation in the war.

Douglas developed this design for postwar airline service as the DC-6 making its initial flight with American Airlines in June 1946.

Civil DC-6s were built alongside 166 aircraft for the U.S Air Force and Navy designated the C-118 and R6D Liftmaster respectively. One C-118 was given a VIP interior for President Truman and designated the VC-118 The Independence. Other VC-118s also served as Air Force One.

I just took some better pics of the DC-7 and wanted to share them, I will try to post a larger pic than normal so you may be able to enlage it if it works.
