Plastic is hardly my favorite construction material.
These nicely-finished little planes you see below are part of the "Hallmark" "Sky's the Limit" series of Christmas ornaments. They are all interesting and unusual subjects - note the chromed Spartan Executive, Stinson Detroiter (with which All-American Airways, ancestor of USAir inaugurated mail pick-up service) and my favorite, the nice yellow Beech Staggerwing.

You're right these are great little collectables, every year I buy at least two of these One for display and one I keep in the box for later.

I have the Detroiter and the Lockheed Vega the latter the first plane used by Braniff. I was impressed with the quality and fidelity of them.
