Executive Display Models - Air Bridge Carriers (ABC) Airlines 1:72 Vickers Vanguard G-APET Temeraire from 1991. I had wanted an example of these models since seeing advertisements for this line in 1980. It's well-modelled, although with only basic detail, and it has no props, not even discs. It's not a metal model, either - it's made of some light, resin material. But the quality and finish are great, and it was made in England.
The Vanguard had a fairly long service life, for a large prop plane that entered service after the jet age was underway. BEA and Air Canada still flew them in the mid-70s. ABC was one of the last lines to fly the Vanguard, along with Europe Aero Service and Merpati Nusantara Airlines, and Temeraire was the original name this plane had when it entered service with BEA in 1961 (G-APET). It means "wreckless" in French. The wooden and metal stand is very elegant. This firm was founded by Brian Austria Tompkins in the mid-1970s, and originally specialized in customized die cast Aero Mini jet liners. It featured a showroom at Heathrow Airport, where it featured limited runs of these display models. The Vanguard later was indeed available in "retro" BEA and Air Canada colors.
