Would it be great if someone was doing 1/50th or 1/36 or even 1/25th scale airliners? A nice 1/25th 737 would be cool. What do you guys think about the larger scale models?

Man, you could probably feel the engines sucking you in with that humongous monster of a display.BTW, i think if you order sizes other than 1/100, they could custom build a landing gear for it. |

Her is a 1/50th Dc-8 of mine in SAS livery all aluminum approx. 35 in long. I have another one that is stripped of any livery, going to send it out to be professionally done.

Have very few large scale models now. The smaller 1/50's were picked up as "future projects".
Heres the shortlist: 1/50: Raise-Up Cutaway KLM DC-8 - needs interior, wiring, and stand. Unknown mfg Ethiopian 707 - needs repaint...to Braniff Jellybean 1/25: Braniff/Air France Concorde Large scale is great, but finding the right piece, money, and space are definitely important considerations. Wishlist- as in Good Luck finding these: 1/50: B2707-300 DC-8-63 Super VC-10 IL-62M BTW: Nice SAS Voodoo!

When I first started collecting professional stand models the companies of note at that time were Pacific Minatures which at the time where located in Alhambra, Ca and they did vertually all the Boeing and Lockheed models as well as some Douglas item. Their expertise was in fiberglas models but they did make an injected model 727. My collection consisted of 1/100th scale models exclusively.
The other company was Marketing Aides and they did mostly Douglas models which brings me to the subject of this thread. I know that some of you will not believe however I was there and saw it for with my own two eyes. A 1/8th SCALE CUTAWAY MODEL OF A DOUGLAS DC-10. The landing gear main tires were almost a foot in diameter. The last time I saw that monster it was in a warehouse after Douglas has finished using it at the aerospace shows and soon after Marketing Aides closed it doors. I moved away to northern California and soon after sold the entire collection of over 50 models to a good friend. I do not know however whatever happened to that massive DC-10 model. Perhaps someone out there might know. That model was a real sight to behold. ![]() |

[quote=upbnsfrrfan;423794]That's 11 ft long X 9.5 ft wingspan
I Once had a VARIG DC10 cut out in this scale. It was featured in a Japanese aviation magazine once too. It was either keep the plane or use the bedroom. Sorry to say I needed the bedroom more than the plane. Would give anything to have it back ![]()

I have a few large scale models in my collection at the moment.
1/50 A340 Virgin Atlantic 1/50 Tupolev Tu134 LOT Polish Airlines (original colours) 1/50 Ilyushin IL62M Aeroflot (Soviet era) 1/50 Ilyushin IL86 Aeroflot (Soviet era) 1/50 Boeing 707-320 Kenya Airways 1/50 Sud Caravelle Finnair (Late 60s colours) 1/50 Convair CV440 SAS (60s colours) 1/50 Lockheed Starliner TWA (Metal model-late 50s?) 1/50 Fokker F27 Friendship SAS 1/50 De Havilland Comet 4B BEA 1/50 Vickers Viscount 800 Continental (Gold tail colours) Until recently I also had a 1/36 Boeing 767-300 in BA colours but it really took up too much space! Really like that DC8 voodoo! I would be happy to post pics if anyone would like to see them ![]()

I am getting ready to import larger scale resin models from overseas for sale. The manufacturer with whom I deal does make some gigantic models, the largest of these being the B747-400 in scale 1:35 as well as B777-200 in scale 1:32. Both are over 200 cm in length. Not certain where you would put such monsters. In any case, scale 1:50 is quite common for them and I have included a photo of a B747-400. I'm focussing on mainly 1:100, however if anyone is truly interested in acquiring a monster plane, please get in touch with me and I can arrange to get it for you.
