CORRECT PLAAF Su-27: it is finally here

Folks, for those who have been following conversations about "world aircraft collection", those 1/72 Giodi, later Gaincorp releases, what I have been predicting and fearing has finally happened.

They re-released the PLAAF su-27, this time with the correct colour scheme, correct landing gear, and presumably a pilot inside the cockpit.

Found this on Gulliver's website (japanese retailer)

I am not going to miss this one...does any one want to get the 1st generation PLAAF Su-27 (tail number 39)? it is a blue camo version unlike this one!

I'm trying to figure out the numbering sequence for these WA (World Aircraft Collection) model numbers that Gulliver is selling.
  • 72001 = 8011 1st Generation Giodi release (extended aerial refuelling probe) Su-34 Strike Flanker Russian AF Bort 43
  • 72003 (no corresponding 80**#) F-15J Eagle JASDF 306SQ
  • 72004 = 8014 Su-35 Flanker Russian AF Bort 28
  • 72005 = 8015 1st Gen (2-wheeled nose gear) Su-27 Russian AF Bort 25
  • 72006 = 8012 2nd Gen (retracted aerial refuelling probe) Su-34 Strike Flanker Russian AF Bort 45
  • 72007 (no corresponding 80**#) F-15J Eagle JASDF 305SQ
  • 72008 (no corresponding 80**#) F-15J Eagle JASDF 201SQ
  • 72009 (no corresponding 80**#) 2nd Gen (single-wheeled nose gear) Su-27 PLAAF #27

My guess is that the incorrect 8013 1st Gen Gaincorp (2-wheeled nose gear) PLAAF Su-27 would fill the WA hole at model# 72002. Following the example of the Su-34 Strike Flankers, I don't think that 72009 will become 8013A, B, C, etc., and will rather be numbered as 8016 or higher (lower?). It will be interesting to see if the re-issued 8011A and 8015B will show up on the Gulliver site as 72001A and 72005B, respectively. It looks like Gulliver has the ability to ship product internationally out of the Japanese market, although they don't currently have any shopping cart functionality, meaning a series of e-mails will have to be shot back-and-forth across the Internet. :(

I know that some UK sites have started to sell Gaincorps, and was curious if they're carrying 80**#s or WA72***#s?

You seem to pay a lot of attention to details.

I personally would prefer Model Car Expo to Gulliver, coz Hong Kong retailer prices are significantly lower than Japanese ones.

But then, I am not sure if Model Car Expo ships to the US. On the other hand, a guy named Flying Mule seems to cater for the US market, probably he can be helpful to american collectors with these russian models?

I am waiting for a reply from Model Car Expo about the availability of the latest PLAAF Su-27 (bort "27"!), but for now, they have not replied and I am wondering what the f*ck is going on.

I cannot wait to get the (accurate) PLAAF Su-27 to sit nose to nose against my ROCAF F-16s...
