This is my latest completion.
The model is made by a spanish company "Mecater". I got it in poor condition and without stand. The white paint needed to be re-newed and a similar stand was added. The polished alu looks much better on the photo than in reality, in fact it's on many places faded. Model is made of aluminium, scale 1/100. I have also 727-100 from same maker, in much better condition. ![]() |

Hi Flieger!
Just went through some old threads and found this one - unfortunately without a pic... Probably was removed some time ago??? Any chance you could show us your Mecater LH 707 again? Kind regards from Stuttgart! Michael |

I add a new picture (shot into glass-cabinet), since meanwhile I was able to get an original stand for the Mecater 707.
From my opinion the Mecater is superior to the Verkuyl, but it's hard to get in a good condition. Chris |

Hallo Chris!
A real beauty! And you're right: It looks better than the Verkuyl-707. I especially like the polished belly and wings. Also the engines look very authentic. Where did you get it? Did you do any touching up besides painting the model? Was it difficult to find a Mecater-stand? Like you I also have a Mecater 727 in my collection. Here's a pic... ![]() What I don't like is the nose section - Verkuyl captured this part of the real aircraft much better. I once read somewhere that Lufthansa often ordered models before the real aircraft was put into service. So could it be that in the early 1960s Mecater had to guess what a 727 really looks like??? Also the intake for engine No. 1 does not look very realistic... But still, the model is in good condition for its age. I bought it on eBay in 2002 with the stand. This was my first travel agents display model. Before that I only collected tin airplanes (Tipp&Co, Gama, Arnold, Nomura etc.). Viele Grüße nach Darmstadt! Michael |

Servus,
the source of the Mecater 707 is Ebay as well. There are no further paintworks applied except the new white of the upper fuselage. The model is not anymore in best condition, but as I said, difficult to get. The stand was taken from a second 727 which I got for low money due to the condition of the plane. I kept the stand for the 707 and gave the 727 to a friend for restauration. I have a mint 727 from Mecater as well. The nose of the 727 is too fat, that's right. But these are promotional models with no engineering character, so no big point for critcism. I know people who can write books about the inaccuracy of 50 years old desktop models, but I wonder, why they don't build plastic models... Mecater should have known the nose of the 727, since it's similar to the 707, which was already on the market. Greets Chris |

I just found a Mecater LH 727 for sale on eBay France:
eBay: MAQUETTE D'AVION "LUFTHANSA" Boeing 727 (Artikel 130110033748 endet 15.05.07 20:30:00 MESZ) The model seems to be in very good condition - but 600 Euros??? Would anybody here pay this amount for a 1:100 display model??? Even if it's over 40 years old? What about the stand - it's not the original one, is it??? Happy bidding!!! Kind regards! Michael |
