Talking Aurora Vintage Nuclear Airliner....

A blast from the past. "The Impetus" Nuclear Airliner from Aurora. Kit #129 price: 98 cents. date: 1959

A short excerpt from the instructions:
"The Impetus is the proposed plane of the future. Created from the most advanced information available, this nuclear giant of tomorrow will be powered by two atomic engines. The plane will be 255 feet long, and will weigh over 330 tons. To get this tremendous aircraft off the ground, there will be a need for a "donkey" jet plane, pushing at her extreme lower aft end. It is expected that in three minutes, an operating altitude of 15,000 feet could be reached and the pilot of the donkey would release his jet plane from the impetus and return to base".

The Impetus would then climb to 200,000 feet; level off and cruise at 8.000 mph.

Enjoy.

PS: This kit was also released in the 70's. It was moulded in solid black with orange canopy and reactor plate. It was listed as the "Ragnarok Interceptor".

Wicked - I remember having a go at building this one in 1976, one thing I do recall is that it didn't fit together well (or maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention to the instructions!). Thanks for the memories.

Glad to bring it back to you. This one has been on the list for a lonnngggg time. The parts fit is not bad for an old- schooler. The fuselage halves go together quite well, but the wings will fall off if you let go of them.

The clear canopy and viewing windows also fit quite well. Not bad for 45 year old kit.

Now if I could only get my hands on a mib Fireball XL-5 set from 1966 for less than a grand!!!
