How many of you guys collect Corgi Airliner 1:144 scale models?
Also if you could pick the next three aircraft types you would like to see them produce from this list, which would they be? Trident Caravelle BAC 1-11 DC-4 DC-6 DC-7 DC-8 DC-8 Stretch DC-9 B727 VC-10 IL-18 IL-62 CV-580 Martin 404 TU-104 TU-134 For me the next three, I would pick would be DC-8 Stretch, BAC 1-11, and CV 580. What are yours?? ![]() |

CV-580, M-404 and DC-7. What I'd really like to see, however, would be Corgi's airliners in 1/72 scale, with the detail of my (their) B-24, B-17 and Lancaster. Can you imagine a DC-7 like that, with crew figures and all?!?!?!

I think those were 1:400 Geminis of BOAC that Corgi was putting out.

"Errr wasn't there a Concorde planned?"
There have been recurring rumors over the years of a 1:144 Concorde. But with Corgi's decreasing interest in 1:144, I doubt that we will ever see it. But, jjorge, I would love to see them do anything from your list. I recently heard of a fellow in UK who has made a limited edition of the Saro Princess in 1:144. I would love one of those, if the price weren't so steep (£450!). Oh well, maybe Bader will eventually come through with my 1:200 edition of the greatest flying boat. I buy both military and civilian Corgi's...I am a big fan of their 707's. As for what I would buy (1:144 or 1:72) - gimmie a stretch DC-8, a IL-62 and Le Caravelle. I picked 'em because of the livery options and size...they'd be great in either scale.
For the smaller models (the DC props...727) I would only want to see them in 1:72. ![]() |

Main problem with Corgi airliners and military jets is that they decided to make them 1:144 to appeal to the collectors of Airfix Skyking kits in the UK. They knew perfectly well that 1:200 or 1:250 were the scales for metal large models (better still, 1:400, but Mr Klein had yet to work his majic!). I hear that commercial pressure from 1:200 manufacturers (no names honest, so please don't get lawyers out!) persuaded them as well.
I really think that if Corgi had gone down the right path they could have introduced many new collectors to the Hobby and tapped into a rich vein of subjects. As it is they have gone back to the well mined vein of World War 2 and some very odd 1:72 subjects (does anyone really want a US Army red and white Chinook prototype! or ...) Sorry, Corgi Your B52s in 1:200 or 1:250 would have been able to command 100 Pounds easy, as it is they go in discount at Toy Fairs for 25! Ralph Morton |

IF200 runs the better way. Smaller scale, more accuracy and less plastic. The Corgi 707 meanwhile you can have for 25,- Euro in Germany. I hope, that IF200 and Hogan will continue their 1/200 die cast range. That is of higher interest. |

I have 7 of the C-130's
48401 - RAF C1K, 1312 Flight 48402 - USMC KC-130F Blue Angels 48404 - HC-130H USCG 31301 - LC-130F USN 31303 - RAAF - 50th Anniversary 31304 - AC-130A USAF Gunship 31307 - C-130E - RCAF Aside from the lower fuselage seam, they really make a great display. There were none for the second half of 2003 but I'm glad to see that there will be a USN DC-130 Drone launcher coming. Glad to see Fat Albert coming in 1/500 from Herpa (although from the pics on Delftblue's site it looks like the stretched L100 fuselage) and according to the 1/400 forum we'll be seeing Gemini's this year too! 2004 the year of the C-130! |

Hi My name is Mustafa, I am an avid model collector and about four years ago Corgi released the Danair Boeing 707 100 series. The model had two settings which included gears down and gears up position. The Reg is G-AYSL and is boxed with the original registeration certificate of limited edition. the aircraft colour scheme is white with red decals from nose to tail and the original stainless steel belly. and black nose cone red tail fin. The aircraft is in mint condition and the price at purchase was £90 pounds uk. I was given this as a birthday gift but I had also purchased one of the same earlier. In 1992 I had actually flown an ex air Guyana airlines Boeing 707 300b series which had the similar colour scheme owned by Omeiga Air out of RAF Manston Kent England. I chartered the aircraft for one hour enough time to fly two sortes around the local area VFR off course. Its my favourate aircraft. As a child it was the very first aircraft I had flown on in 1973. I hope you might offer me a reasonable offer if interested. Oh please go to youtube, and enter F28 Aeroplane restaurant and you can see my passion for planes, I purchased a real F28 fokker Fellowship and turned it into a restaurant. I also have two other collectables in mint condition a BOAC Vicount reg G-ANDBA and again stainless steel belly deep Royal blue decal undercarrage down and lastly TWA Super Connie reg N86516 in full chrome. These models were all limited editions released by corgi 4 years ago. All the models advertised are in mint condition with authentic certifictes & boxes. I have found a Jet Provost MK5 in mint condition priced at £295 pounds which i am eager to get my hands on. Goodluck Email me at md_jaz@yahoo.co.uk Last edited by Mustafa; 01-11-2008 at 09:13 AM. I have Corgi's Viscount in Capital, Continental and United Airlines liveries.
I also have their DC-3 in Aer Lingus and BEA liveries as well. I would love to see them release the Viscount in all three liveries they carried with Aloha Airlines. |

I am hoping that Corgi will release 1/144 scale EC-121K or WV-2 Warning Stars to complement their other C-121's - what are the chances of that happening?

Also, I'm so going to buy the VC-10 at some point. Anyway, I have a few Corgis, including the Viscount G-AOJC in BEA Scottish Airlines livery with red wings and speedjacks, the Viscount G-AOYH in Northeast (UK) livery, the Comet G-APMA in BEA livery with red wings and squares, and, most recently, from Adrian, the Chinook G-BJAC in BA Negus colours. Also I have a USAF Sentry (complete with battery powered Rotodome), a Victor and a Vulcan. The others I have are the 1:400 ones (unless stated). These are: Concorde G-BOAD in the split Negus and SIA livery, Concorde G - BOAC in Kingsway livery and came as a double set with a model of the Flyer, complete with figures that make it look more like 1:72 (I know 1:76 BOAC and a British Caledonian VC-10 A BA Landor and a Kingsway 747. AND, small BEA Helicopter, G-AWGU, with speedjacks. Then, I have a Lancaster, an RAF VC-10 and Sentry. In a larger scale, I have the Apollo Lunar module, and 2 Hurricanes, one in B.O.B. colours and one in Desert 'El alamein' garb. Also I have a Hurricane and a Spitfire, but those are the toy versions from many years ago. Last edited by Roarer; 05-05-2008 at 10:33 PM. |

Braniff 707 ... £3.... Yep they really were sold a pup by one or two '1/200' protectionists... and IMPO they went too large... if they had stayed at the Trident/Caravelle/1-11/737 size they would have been more appealing... If they had taken on the 737/727/DC4/6/7 mantle then there would have been the schemes as well as the overseas interest... ... and if they had made the above in 1/200 they would have made a lot more profit and used a lot less raw material... lot of 'ifs'.... shame really as in full flight with a bit of a touch up... well quite a lot of touch up... the models do have presence... ![]() |
