Default Forty year old chrome 727

From a little shop outside of Amersterdam, Holland came this beautiful 1/250 scale, solid metal, chrome 727. It looks like new and is one of the favorites in our collection.

Arrow Chrome 727

This should be and old Verkuyl-model (Holland), which was manufactured in the early 70's as present to frequent Lufthansa guests. Those models existed in three different colours: Copper, Silver and Gold, representing the different level of achieved mileage (I guess 100.000 - 250.000 km). The original stand is metal as well. They had also a Viscount and a 707 of same style in earlier days.
This was basically the early type of Lufthansa Miles and More program. Much more attractive than the scrap you can get today on and off board

This very well could be a Verkuyl model. My dad got it in 1964. The wood base is the original base that came with the model.

Arrow Error!

I checked my Verkuyl 727 of scale 1/250 when I returned home from office and in fact the models are different. The more details on the wings of your's is obvious.
If your's is really from the mid 60s, it may could have been an inspiration for LH staff to make something similar as high frequent travelling gift.
Attached is a picture of the LH copper typ for 100.000 km.

Great model. Looks like you've got a nice collection of older models as well. How about more pictures?

Ähem...

I should have taken the model out of the glass cabinet before taking the picture.......in fact I was too lazy

I have a small (?) collection of about 50-60 old display models, varying from 1/50 to 1/300, all metal. Most of them are quite common types, nothing to show off. Military included.

Do you have any kind of favoured aircraft type?
