Thumbs up Armour B-17 arrived!

I retailer I use contacted me today and said they had received their first Armour B-17's. A squadron of B-17 'Tondalayo' FMB637's arrived on a pallet! This retailer told me the -17s are one piece, have a very large box, and are VERY heavy.

Downside is shipping is EXPENSIVE. (UPS oversized and overweight charges apply.....)

Should hopefully have mine by the first of next week....

Burbank House of Hobbies hadn't taken one out of the box when I talked to them- they peaked at it through the box window....

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll take some photos of the -17 when it arrives and post them. I should have it Fri/ Monday (hopefully) if they found a shipping box large enough to pack it in- Burbank House of Hobbies double boxes for more protection.

Thumbs up

COOL! Thanks for the photos!

Can't wait to get mine! As I mentioned, I'm getting 'Tondalayo' - I'll try and post pictures as well.

Hope it's on my front porch when I get home......

Uy!
That green camo looks a bit too funky!

The seam in the bombers top half looks odd, don;t think it should have a seam here... detracts a bit from the nose....
Would have preferred some weathering...looks way too clean!

I'll wait to pass judgement- camera flashes tend to wash out a paint scheme. Good to photograph in natural light with no flash.

These are factory fresh B-17's..... Perhaps you can customize one for us Eduardo- patches over flak holes, oil stains, chipped paint on the leading edges, etc... :-)

Angry Armour dropped the ball on the "Belle"

Great pictures of the Memphis Belle, however....

She was a B-17F model. They got that right.
She had three .50 cal guns in the nose. two cheek guns located in the larger windows on the sides of the nose and another forward firing gun mounted in the plexiglass nose.
She had a single .50 cal behind the top turret position for the radio operator.
I also believe that the waist guns opennings had plexiglass doors that had to be removed in order to swing the waist .50 cals into firing position. So the model should not have the .50 cal waist guns protruding through the plexiglass. The later variants of the B-17G (and maybe some later model F's but this was May 15, 1943) had permanent plexiglass windows that the waist guns were incorporated into.

Let's hope they remembered that the Memphis Belle painted on her Port side is Blue and not Red like the starboard side.

I must say that I'm disappointed that Armour would not make the Memphis Belle historically accurate.

What was the price for these babys? I have two $15 gift certificates from the two planes I bought at the Oshkosh Air Show from the Franklin Mint booth and they expire this weekend. I wanted to use them on the B-17s. Hopefully the Franklin Mint store by my house has some in.
