Thumbs up Corgi Lanc fixed

Firstly, thanks Rich

I was worried about the paintwork bit but as luck would have it the process was easier than I thought. The Radome is very close fitting so I tried to pull it firmly and to an angle to be able to insert a craft knife. No gap appeared so I pulled harder and rocked it side to side and it came away. The dome is just painted perspex with a small spigot fore and aft. These leave holes just two mm wide and it could be easily replaced.

If any ones interested this particular aircraft (Corgi AA32603 model L7578/KM-B 44 Squadron (Rhodesia)) had an aerial in this ventral position which would be about 2 cms long and run fore and aft a couple mms proud of the fuselage supported at either end and at the centre. The spigot holes for the H2S could be utilised here.

You would think it would have been cheaper just to leave the dome off in the first place though.

Before investing in further "creative input" has anyone seen the actual models of the latest Lanc/Mossie pathfinder set. Does the Lanc have the correct Mk VI engine cowling (similar to a Shackelton) and four bladed props?

Small details like these are not so bad in the 1/144 (like the two 1/144 Mk VII Lancs with the mid-upper in the wrong place) but in 1/72 they stick out like sore thumb.

Glad to hear that the surgery on the Lanc proved so painless!

I've seen the pathfinder set you mention and can't remember what engines it had to be honest, but if it did have the annular Lincoln style radiators and four bladed props I think it'd would have stuck in my mind somewhat, so I'll eat my hat if it's got those rather big mods!
To be honest I'd be rather wary of the Mossie too as I seem to remember it was going to be a B.35 with the two-stage merlins in the longer cowlings with the big airscoop and I'm not sure what how good the mods have been to effect this change.
I do get a little frustrated with all these errors on the Corgi range as you might have gathered. Rather than do a plane that requires new props and engines to get right why not take the time to select a machine that no mods at all are required for? Ah well it's not up to me, at least we're not at the point yet where a new coat of paint is supposed to change a Mosquito into a Hornet!
