Default MIG-29 Diecast models (1/72)?

Does anyone know if there are any Diecast models of the MIG-29 in 1/72 scale? I haven't been able to find any yet. Any help would be appreciatted, thanks!

There aren't any diecast Fulcrums available in 1:72 scale at the moment. Ertl produced a slightly toy-like model a while back in roughly 1:100 and Model Power make a couple in 1:140, but we'll just have to keep waiting for 1:72. Of the main 1:72 manufacturers out there today, I'd speculate the following:-

Corgi are unlikely to ever produce them as they tend to favor RAF operated jets.

Dragon Models *might* someday venture beyond USAF/USN jets but they have quite a line-up planned already.

Revell are a possibility since the Luftwaffe operate MiG-29s, but they've only just arrived on the diecast aircraft scene with their F-14s, F-16s and Tornados and it's anybody's guess where they'll go next.

Gaincorp would be where I'd put my money right now. Although they're also a relative newcomer, they have started out with mainly Russian machines and I'd guess they'll continue with this theme.

All I can tell you for certain is that as soon as someone does make them, you'll probably bump into me lining up to buy one of the first ones off the line! :-)

Cheers,
Martin.

Thanks for the info....too bad there isn't one. I guess I'll have to stop being so lazy and build one. Thanks again.

Yeah, that's probably your best bet right now. I suggest you make up for past laziness by building two... one for you and one for me.

Since Air Command (Sun Star) models correspond to 1:48 scale Armour/Franklin Mint releases, I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see 1:72 scale MIG-29s from AC.

Arrow ERTL MIG-29

Darth,

try the ERTL MIG-29 to shorten the time until a real 1/72 comes up. The ERTL should be 1/79 and is not bad. As long as you look from the top and do not focus on the undercarriage.
Of course it is smaller, but on the other hand you can play with it!

About 10,- bucks on Ebay

I agree with Gavin...probably Air Command will come up with a Fulcrum sometime (but you can still build your own...and if the wait gets long, build a third one for me). Too bad we hardly get any of their releases here.

I am not sure if Gaincorp (ex Giodi) will do a Mig-29, because they still haven't released the F-22 Raptor promised long-time ago.

I think you guys could be right if Sun Star really are trying to duplicate the Armour releases in 1:72 scale. It seems to me that we may have to wait a while for anything out of the ordinary though. The F-117 was a great place for them to start but coming out with F-16s and F-18s amongst such stiff competition makes me wonder if they're only interested in the mass market right now.

I don't think the delay in Gaincorp's F-22 is an issue just yet; Dragon slip their dates all the time, after all. And who knows, maybe they've just been busy removing all those external weapon loads for the first official release... well, I can live in hope I guess!

I still think they could be in the running for a MiG 29 eventually. Trouble is, no matter who does it first, it's still anybody's guess as to how long we'll have to wait.

Cheers,
Martin.
