That is a really nice plane! What mold did it start out as or should I say what base manufacturer is it produced by? Also who and how did you or you custom person do such great work? Once again lovely airplane.

Try getting one from NW or KLM and see if you get the paint detailed as this. The ones you get would just be a plain production model with single silver on the wings. It’s not detailed out like the accurately like the actual plane. Do the ones you get from NW or KLM have the aluminum edges on the front of the wings? What about the trim around the engine cowling? What about registration numbers? You might take a good look at the ones from NW or KLM and let us know what much detail it comes with.

So where do you get the custom work done? I would like to have a model done like that but I don't know of anyone who does this type of work.

Hey Funbird,

That is a very sweet looking bird!
Please give us the details, is it yours, who made the model, painted it, etc.???

That thing has got to be worth a small fortune.

Very nice indeed.

Don

This model is for sale. Contact Peter Jackson at Aviation Models. The artist who did this model has done a 1/72 Trident 3 with gear and flaps which is incredible. He also did a Cathay A340-600. Each model including the KLM goes for 450 pounds. Most of this artists work centers on 1/100 scale. Aviation Models is on the web. I can't remember the site address exactly but do a Google search. Peter is in England.

Thumbs up

There are FEW plane/paint combinations that look better than a KLM 747-400. I would LOVE to have one as big and detailed as that. (I've got the DW 1/400, and it's nice, but not as nice as the latest ones).

Thumbs up Funbird...

Thanks for the info.

If he can do a 1/72 Convair 880 for me, half of my 1/400 collection is soon to be up for sale!
