Default DW finally put pics up of their F/A-18C

http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/html/50024f-18c-main.htm

Yes, Chippy Ho, the world's only Hornet (according to the diecast manufacturers). VFA-195: it's the Swissair of 1/72.

Armament is pretty poor--2 AIM-9's, 3 huge drop tanks. Hopefully later ones will have, you know, BOMBS for the ATTACK plane.

(I'm awaiting the next one listed--VMFA-232 Red Devils have an awesome scheme. I'd also like VFA-131 Wildcats).

Have you checked out the sun Star F18 too? From the brochure pics the Sun Star models look pretty similar to DW's quality, I must say I fancy buying a F117A,

I've heard Sun Star mentioned twice lately, and am VERY interested--but I can't find any pics of their jets! I can only find their autos online.

On the subject of DW F18's, has anyone actually bought the all black F18 Top Gun model? Don't think it's available in the UK yet.

I haven't bought any F18's yet, to be honest I've never liked the F18 so can't see myself buying any, I like the F117A though, will buy one of those

Looked at the Sunstar ones---VERY nice. I actually think I like the Sunstar mold better for the F-18. However--I am BIG on the weapons that come with them (it's often the deciding factor)--and the Sunstar weapons have little detail and no paint apps. I'll probably go with DW for my VMFA-232 plane. But will definitely snag their F-117---no weapons! (Same goes for the Thunderbirds F-16---but I think DW has a better -16 mold, especially the nose/canopy area---I think I'll wait a bit and see if DW does the Thunderbirds)

Now the important question is---where to buy them?

Good prices and a really good guy to deal with.
Usually gets the planes in as soon as available.

FYI - black F-18 Top Gun only available through
points credits.

The F-18 is an amazing story.
It kind of grows on you really!
If I recall(no expert on this) it was a losing design for the AirForces new fighter, that eventually went to the F-16. The manufacturer of the F-16 then bought out the losing design and POW! sold the design to the Marines and now I hear of SUPER Hornets replacing the F-14.
Amazing situation!
Model looks great, but I hope all the releases are not these super colorful 'one of' schemes.

That's close E but a bit off the mark.
The aircraft began life as the Northrop YF-17 Cobra competing against the General Dynamics YF-16 in the USAF's LWFX fly off.
At the same time the USN was looking for a replacement for the Marine F4 and the Navy A7 and the loser in the Air Force's fly off looked promising. Lacking the expertise to build a carrier aircraft, Northrop entered into a partnership with McDonnell Douglas to redesign the aircraft to Navy standards. The result was the F/A18 Hornet with McDonnell Douglas as the prime contractor.
Too bad the black top Gun F/A18B is a redemption model as I don't have nearly enough points to buy it, it was on my hit list, bummer.
I'm now waiting eagerly for the CF18 to arrive.

I just tried finding Sun Star F-117s on Pete's... no dice. No search hits on "Sun Star", "sunstar" or "F-117"; no non-Dragon hits on "F-16".

(But hey, with a name like that, he can't be bad )

I've been waiting for a 1/72 T-Bird to go with my 1/48 Armour one. Many years ago I built a 2-seater from the Hasegawa kit and MicroScale decals, but it has yellowed badly with age... that was before I learned the trick of adding one drop dark blue per bottle of white to prevent yellowing.
