I am trying to obtain as much information as possible on the Dinky Toys model aircraft produced from the 1930's until around 1960. In particular, these a/c were made to a common scale. Can anybody tell me what this was (1/200??).
Thanks!

Hi Edmund,
with the exception of the later "BIG PLANES" (Stuka, Harrier, etc.) the basic scale of the Dinky models was 1/200. Of course, there is some small deviation from model to model, because they were developed, produced and sold all as toys, not as models, but all in all they are "in line". A good view over the different scales can be found in Sue Richardson's famous Bible for collectors "DIECAST TOY AIRCRAFT", she listed up any exact scale of any model. If you have any specific question on scale of a certain model, such as 737, Caravelle or Britannia, let me know, I will post it then. Regards Chris |

Derek Barratt in the UK has a detailed list of Dinky variants in a loose-leaf binder form. I do not collect Dinky Toys but I do like them. The only planes I have are the Britannia, Super Connie, Viscounts, and Comet.

Dinky's plane models are representing the roots of our passion. For most of today's a/c model collectors they are not interesting due to their "toy nature". But some guys are still fascinated by charm and appearance......
![]() I would be interested in reading a review by Edmund of a Dinky Boeing 737 in comparison to a Herpa Premuim one... If anybody of you has one of those ugly Dinky Vulcan for sale (few bucks, not more...), just tell me Chris |

My first diecast was (is) the Dinky (I think) Super VC-10 in BOAC colours. Haven't found it yet to unpack.....
Hmmm... thread idea..... "Your First and / or Favourite Diecast Airliner" - if you could keep ONE diecast from your collection, what would it be??

Dinky never made a BOAC VC-10 ... yours is probably an Aero Mini model.

Dinky didn't make a VC-10, however, Corgi did in the early 70's. This plane is hard to find, so if you have one, hang on to it!
