Smile Dragon Wings 1/72 F-16

Just received my Dragon Wings 1/72 F-16. I am really pleased with the model. I feel though that there are a few things that may need correcting. If you select to display the plane with the gear down you have to struggle to get the front wheel support to stay in place because the front landing gear door seems to interfear with the wheel strut. The pylons that the drop tanks connect to seem to sit in a position that makes the tanks slant a little to the right. When you load up the missles patience is a must. After trying several times it seemed best to load the missles from the wing tips inward. Also wait and put the pitot tube on last so you won't break it. All in all I think Dragon Wings did a nice job on their first release into the Warbird arena. The size, 1/72. makes it an easy model to display and overall the quality of the model,ie,painting, fittings and appearance is alot better than Armours 1/48 planes. Plus the price is right and their up and coming releases will be a nice addition to my collection.

I don't have an F-16 yet, but from the pics on their website it looks very nice. Hopefully my Corgi retailer will get one for me to look at -- it's much more fun than mail-ordering Hopefully their marketers have enough sense to make a Thunderbirds F-16

But I have to chuckle at the comparison they do between their diecast and a plastic model. They emphasize their engraved panel details as a good point compared to the plastic model. As a long-time plastic modeler, I know the plastic model is much closer to scale than the diecast. Being a former Air Force aircraft mechanic, I know that no F-16 (or any other aircraft) ever had panel gaps like the diecast. I can just picture the panels being ripped off by the slipstream as the plane gains speed... if it even could gain speed with all that drag

Just kidding though -- looks like a great model!

What we need is a 1/72 or 1/48 diecast F-105D with a full centerline rack of 750 pounders.

I doin't understand why one of these companies has not yet ,attempted to come out with the Century line of planes; F-100,F-101,F-102,F-104,F-105 and F-106 and through in a B-58 Hustler! The color schemes and the tail markings were outragious during the 60s,70s and 80s. The different weapon load ups plus comparision in these planes shapes would be a big seller. these aircraft rocked!

I double endorse that line-up. Also include Republic F-103, North American F-107 and F-108. And any interested mfr: don't forget the B-58 in prototype red chevron colors.

I got my F-16 and it is incredibly nice!
I decid3ed to glue the pieces on for a "gear down" model and everything went on easily.
The finished product looks like a carefully make 1/72 kit!
I only left the air brakes on without glue.
I thought it might bring more options for the various pylons but can't conplain...a real beauty, highly recommended...can't wait what the WWII warbirds will look like!

I like the old planes too. For years there has been an oversaturation of die cast F-16s, F-15s, F-14s, stealth planes in all sizes, colors and qualities. The toy/model makers are merely trying to be "contemporary."

Don't worry about lack of weapons--DW says they will make separate weapons packs available. (Hopefully cheap) I'll buy a bunch! (And hopefully, all the jets will use the same attachment style, so you can swap between aircraft--no reason to make AIM-9's that only work on one type of plane, and make a bunch of different versions of the same missile)
