-Whats the story of the`Asia' one that seems to be out now?
-I snoozed and lost out on getting the all-lilac `Milka' one 6+ years ago.

I never understood their logic in choosing to make it 1/160. If they'd made it 1/144 or 1/200 it would have much wider appeal, as it is now it can't really be displayed with any other models. And yes, it is a superb model, well worth getting

Well Herpa always had model railway scales in mind, being a large producer of HO (1/87) cars and trucks.
When they started their Modell-Edition series with the 1/200 jetliners, I guess they wanted to add the JU-52 but realized (?) that 1/200 was pretty small and just went down to the next notch i.e. N gauge railways 1/160.
My guess.

I guess that's the reason, just a shame they didn't decide to study the model aircraft market and conform to existing standards rather than N gauge European trains. Interestingly, Japanese N gauge is almost the same as 1/144, 1/14-something, sorry I can't remember exactly. I do like the new Asian Ju52/3m model, I plan to get that one.
