I am looking for a little help in tracking down some information on this model. There is no manufacturer listed anywhere on the model. The wings are attached by two rods on each wing that slide into the fuselage. Not sure if that will help but I know that different manufactures attached the wings a bit differently. There is a number stamped on the fuselage on both sides between the two holes for the wings. I think the number is 23 but I didn't feel it was important enough to take the model apart just to make sure that was the exact number. Also, I am attaching pictures of the box. This is a rather fancy box in my opinion. It looks like a presentation box leading me to believe it was given as a gift and not just a mail order model. Most models I have seen in this scale have a cardboard box with foam inserts. The stand is also a bit unique as it allows you to position the model in a level climb or a bank in either direction. I hope all of the photographs help identify who made the model and whether or not it was some sort of gift like a retirement gift from TWA or etc...
I am certain the model is at least 10 years old from the person I bought it from however he does not know any more about the model than I do. He could not remember exactly when he bought it but is certain it was over 10 years ago. It does not appear that it was ever displayed in my opinion and in fact the person I bought it from was looking for something else I had went to look at buying and found this box in the basement thinking it contained what I was there to see. When he opened the box I was shocked!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to have the history behind this model.
Thanks,
Matt

I remember acquiring a few of these types of models about 5-6 years ago from a seller from Florida. I remember them because of the pictures of the inside of the storage box that you posted. These types of one piece resin models are made in China.

Hope that this info helps.

Not sure what you mean by one piece resin... The wings are removable. I will follow the lead for being made in China though! Have spent a lot of time searching online for a picture of a model with the same stand or the same box and can find absolutely nothing! It is so frustrating! I would just like to see at least one!
Thanks for the help!
Matt

I agree with the China theory also. Displays well, looks a good clean model. Some of these Chinese models are really improving these days, although there are still some 'real dogs' out there. In uthe eyes of some collectors, this means that they all gear tarred with the same brush, which is a pity.

I was not aware that the wings of your particular model, disconnected from the fuselage. My apologies.
It's been many years since I had one similar to yours and the one's I had mostly were of once piece construction. But, I did some more thing about it overnight and remembered that the last model that I had like yours, was an Asiana Boeing 747 model. I believe that the wings did indeed separate from the model's fuselage and it had the same exact lined box as you have.
I also found a similar model on eBay for you below. Take a look at the box and you'll see that it looks like your box:

I am just curious what engines it should have... I am not even close to an expert on the jet engines. I know they did replace the engines on N303TW just based on photos I have seen... The picture below looks to represent the model correctly I believe. Let me know what you think....
Thanks for the info.
Matt
And here she is with the newer engines but also toting a spare P&W that she was delivered with.
And here with the original P&W's
Again, not an expert...
I would love to have any additional information you may be able to provide or correct me if I am wrong about the engines in the photos. Maybe I am looking at the same engines in all three picture but I don't think so.

The engines on your lovely model look like GE CF6's whereas TWA 747's had P&W JT-9D's as in all 3 photos. Personally, I would not worry about it. Enjoy the model for what it is.

Thanks! I love the detective work that goes along with researching each model! Thanks for all of the information!

Unfortunately, a lot of model manufacturers adopt the old "one size fits all" attitude.....easier, cheaper, & who the hell will notice anyway. Pity.
