Default A Friend's Large 50 Year Commercial Airline 4 Rooms of Models & Etc Collection

Greetings All,

I just returned from visiting friends in Raleigh, North Carolina. While there, I was introduced to a friend of theirs who has a massive vintage airline collection. It consists of hundreds of models, hundreds of thousands of various printed material and airline logo attire. He's been collecting for approximately for fifty (50) years!

This collector has four (4) entire rooms in his house, which contain: models, timetables, emergency ditch cards, playing cards, aircraft manuals, airline procedure manuals, safety cards, playing cards, 35mm slides, color photos, black & white photos, coffee mugs, kiddy wings, matchbook cases, glassware, china, silverware, hats, t-shirts, jackets, etc and an entire closet full of factory sealed plastic model airplanes kits which require glue.

That's all that I saw when I visited is home but, apparently he's got a lot more than this.

As I don't know this collector that well, I felt funny taking pictures during my visit but, I was able to take just a few pictures, which are located here for all to see and enjoy:

My pictures barely scratch the surface of this collector's massive amount of stuff in his house! He also told me that he has boxes and boxes of vintage airline stuff, that he hasn't ever opened, due to the lack of space in is house.

When I was leaving, he gave me a vintage Midway Airlines pin and coffee mug for the road! A really nice guy and hopefully I can stay in touch with him. Who knows, perhaps I might be able to buy some of his collection down the road, if he's willing to part with any of it!

Regards to all.

Robert

An amazing collection. Would be nice to see more of it in the future, if that's possible.

Sorry, I thought you meant this collector:

The Airline Archives

He is also in the Carolinas and has an extensive collection.

I met Charles Quarles at the MKE convention in 2005. He seemed like a nice guy.

I did not know he had such an extensive collection.
