Default BA 747-400 unknown scale/manufacturer ??

So the post comes and this model I find in the box, sad thing is out of disappointment it's BA and not EL AL. Who made it ? and whats the scale ? It's around 3 and a half 1:400 744's...

I'm not sure of the maker either. By the look of the stand, it could have been made by Lupa. I havn't a clue how big a 1/400 model is, centimetres would be better. Looks a nice model though. How come you were expecting an EL AL model, but ended up with a BA one?

Well. My dad's in Jordan and was hearing how much I was looking for an EL AL 747 but he didn't catch onto EL AL and thought to surprise me but I didn't want to sound like a pratt and be like It's not EL AL but then again it's not EL AL.

I know what you mean, being careful not to offend the gift giver. Still a nice model though.

mmmm i had a similar sia 1000th 747 with tilting stand a few years ago. that was 1/115. a 1/400 747 is seven inches. so about 2 feet in total. a 1/100 747 is about 2 ft 4 inches. a 1/144 is 20 inches. so i would say 1/110-1/120. there was an almost identical on ebay a few weeks ago, but cannot remember what scale it said! if only that haD been a LANDOR!...

Well aside from the oversized cockpit printing, its a very good mold. Good placement of cabin windows, excellent Section 41, proper sized engines, correct wing/body fairings, winglets etc. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind picking up one of these for myself either and making a custom out of it.

This seems quite similar to this 1000th Singapore 747-400 that I have... 1/160 scale I think. Very obscure. The box said Phoenix models.

that's exactly the same 1 i had a few years back. but thought it was 1/115. had phoenix on box as you say, but not the phoenix most of us know. it also has a tilting stand. got it off ebay from levron sales for £25 + £20 post. iirc model comes in a rectangular brown box, sinilar to risesoon models.

Someone got a fairly good deal on that Landor 747. I had 3 of those Taiwanese Phoenix models. A 1/200 747-200 China Airlines 'plum blossom' livery, a 1/125 MD82 in Far Eastern Air Transport colours, and a 1/130 757-200 in the same scheme. They were well made and weighty, and the graphics were spot on. The Phoenix name used on these models, pre-dates todays Phoenix company by many years. I don't know wether or not these models are still made
