Question Marushin in Europe??

Hi all, does anybody know of any Marushin dealers in Europe? I know of dealers in the USA, and in Asia, but haven't seen any in Europe. I am desperate for their Mitsubishi G4M, but postage on a model that size from outside Europe will be frightening so I'd rather source it over here, the postage will probably still be scary Any idea's guys? Thanks,

Justin

Marushin - the name of an old tin toy maker in Japan I guess in the 1950s and 60s - trade mark was an M at the top of a circle. I did not know they made any planes, though. About when was it released?

Hi Anthony,

Marushin make very high quality 1/48 diecast models of mainly IJNAF and IJAAF types of WW2. I don't know anything about them so I can't say if they are the same as the old toy company but I guess it's quite probable. I saw these in Japan a few times but didn't know who made them (I have no written Japanese ability and VERY little spoken ability ) then a chap here on DAC was kind enough to post a link to Aitkens planes n America. The model I really want is the Mitsubishi G4M bomber, but a model that size would be scary to ship across the pond, although if I can't find a European dealer it may be neccessary, oh dear... Take care,

Justin

Default Marushin

Hi Justin,
I know well Marushin models and think they are some of the finest
models actually made.I have in my collection some of these 1/48
models : Nakajima Ki 43 Oscar, Nakajima Ki84 Franck,A6M5 Zero,
Kawasaki Ki61 Tony, perhaps the most beautiful. I have obtain
them from Japan some years ago.
These models are unassembled but very easy to built. All the parts
are painted and you need just a screwdriver and a little glue.
Some weeks ago, I have discover on the net a japanese site.
They are selling all the serie and the price are better than in USA.
For exemple, the new Nakajima bomber B5N2 Nate cost 8500 Yens (about 45 £ ).
For trying; I have order a little suicide plane Okka in 1/48.It
arrives safely ,in just one week, with reasonable shipping price.

Their adress : Japan hobby link : http://www.hlj.com

The site is in english !

I hope you will find your Mitsubishi Betty soon.

Thanks Phillipe!! What a great site, sadly no G4M but as few very nice Ki43's, Ki84's,J2M's and N1K's, all machines I'd love to have in my collection, as well as the A6M. I agree 100% these are superb models, I think it strange no dealer in Europe seems to see any potential in this fine range. Those prices do seem good, I'll give them a try. Thanks again for the great link,

Justin

Smile Marushin

Hi Justin,
I'm happy you have appreciate the japanese site. But you have
not good look at the Marushin list. The Mitsubishi Betty bomber
is the "IJN Type1bomber Misawa or Kanoya".Two versions are
effectivly available, one in grey/green camo and the other one
in two tone camo.
You can see a picture of each model on the site.
Good hunt for you.

Hi Phil

tu é 1 peti cachotié ; je croyé ke tu été an un venter é ke tavé pa le tan 2 tocupé dé peti zavion.tu ou bli de kosé a ton cop1 2 choz sé rieuz.

Many thanks for these news. as you know , it is becoming more and more difficult for me to work with my old japaneese connection. I am trying to get in touch with other people, but it wil take time.
Did you buy the Betty or are you still waiting for ??
What about the charges for package and freight ??

Hi Justin,

Phil and I know this brand for around 4 to 5 years and despite a long, long search, we never discovered a retailer or a European distributor.
During one year, as I was working with a japaneese trading compagny, I made some purchases from friends. But I stoped when the yen currency rised to important values ...............
Trust in the Euro !!!!!!!

bye

I think it's amazing no retailer in Europe has seen the potential of this range, also that Marushin haven't recognised a potential market in Europe. About currency fluctuations, how right you are!! I have seen the exchange rate veer between £1=JY147 to £1=JY230 and everything in between so it's worth timing it right!

Well, I took the plunge and just ordered a Marushin A6M from that store in Japan, and at £31/$47 it was very reasonably priced indeed, even with EMS postage it's not bad at all. So I'm excited to recieve the model, I'd just like to again thank Philippe for such a good link, thanks!

Hi Justin
Don't thanks me because you will spent a lot of money with this
super japanese site.Seriously, I'm sure you will enjoy these
marvellous models. Try the Kawasaki Ki61, it's one of the best
for me.
Philippe.

I could quite happily order the whole Marushin catalogue I ordered the A6M as they list it as in stock, but the Ki43,Ki61,Ki84 were all very attractive aircraft, and the N1K Shiden and G4M are models I really must have, oh dear..... Funny though, they don't offer the Ki46 Dinah, and in my opinion that was one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built, a wonderfully elegant and graceful machine. Take care!

Justin,
have you now received your Marushin A6M Zero from Japan. For myself, I've break down for 2 planes, the Aichi Val
and the Nakajima Nate. They are too nice !!
I hope they will arriving next week.
For Christmas, I've already received the little Marushin 1/48 Okka suicide plane. A tragical story but a very interressant model.
It's incredible to imagine a man in this "thing".
Now , I dream of the fantastic Marushin Betty bomber. Perhaps
a good idea for my family for my birthday !!!

Hi Philippe, no luck yet, but fingers crossed I added a Ki61, Ki84 and N1K to my A6M order, even though they're out of stock. The A6M I ordered is now out of stock, but I hope they will re-stock soon. That Ota flying bomb suicide weapon was a dreadful weapon, I believe it was a disaster anyway as the G4M carrier aircraft were so heavily overloaded they were total sitting duck targets. I really do want that G4M though.... Take care!

Hi Justin !
Have you now received your models. For myself, I have received
yesterday the 2 bombers, Aichi Val and Nakajima Nate, I've ordered some weeks ago. They are really top quality models.
What fine shape !
The site hlj.j.com have been improved recently. You can know
now the shipping price just when you take an order. nice !
In the Aichi Val boxe was the last Marushin catalogue and despite
I don't read the japanese, I've discover that the next model would
be a Nakajima Ki44 Tojo and then ... They announce for future days : Mitsibishi Dinah ( yes), Zero Rufe floatplane, and also
Kawanishi H6K Mavis and H8K sea planes (which scale ?)
Only good news today !!!
Philippe.

Hi Phil, just got home and found 4 models waiting, just like Christmas That news about a Marushin Dinah has just made my day, the Ki46 is just such a beautiful aircraft, a very graceful, elegant machine. I am happy with HLJ's service, the models were out of stock when I ordered, so it took a while to deliver, but they did not charge me until they shipped, and when they did ship, EMS delivery was VERY fast, the mail service between Japan and the UK really is fantastic. Glad to hear you like your models too, I'm now planning a G4M, nice......

I just realised you listed the H6K and H8K, I don't know how I missed those in your post first time, this is incredible news!! Given that Marushin are not scared of size after having made a 1/48 G4M, I guess these may be 1/48 too, in which case they'll be awesome My models also came with colour catalogues but they must be older versions as they don't list those models. I hope they'll make a Ki100 too, the Ki100 with cut down rear fuselage and all round vision canopy was almost certainly the best Japanese fighter of the war, and very lucky for allied airmen that Mitsubishi never re-engined the Ki61 earlier (the Ki100 was basically a Ki61 re-engined with a radial engine as the license built DB601 in the Ki61 had dreadful reliability problems for anybody not an enthusiast of WW2 Japanese designs ). Take care,

Justin
