Hi Bob,
Unfortunately I'm up north this weekend so I can't make it. Have you got much lined up at ARD to collect?

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
Hi Ashely,
These are really nice models that you found on eBay, for sale.
Airline issued models as we know are somewhat difficult to find.
When I worked in the airline industry for many years, I remember the sales managers also seemed to have many of these in their offices. They always guarded these models like "gold".
Regards, Robert

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
Great conversation...
Interflug ceased to exist in 1991. How can they sponsor these new age models? Was the brand name "Interflug" meanwhile sold to a model maker..!?

The 134 looks cool- wish there was more space in apt!
ps: There's a great vid of thr 134 on YouTube showing it roll down a highway in traffic. Great closeups! EASY to find in the search. Love Russian civil jets-

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
Well the fact that you got them from an ex employee, is confirmatio that these models were supplied to people connected to the airline. There is a large and active Interflug Staff Association for ex employees, and Interflug celebrated it's 50th anniversary about 4 years ago, to me, that explains these models, and their specialised packaging.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but they are 100% NOT original Interflug models, what means made on behalf of the former airline Interflug of the GDR. They are made in China on behalf of a nice Gentleman who owns the right of the name "Interflug" in connection of using them on airplane models (the right to use them on T-Shirts, Pens etc are owned by somebody different). I know because I paid him to get permission for using the name "Interflug" on a model of the A310 that I am selling from time to time on ebay (http://www.ebay.de/itm/110874943876). He showed me these models and offered me to buy a large amount and he also had them on ebay quite often.. They are of good quality and really nice, but NOT "original Interflug" models made on behalf of the airline.
Sorry !
P.S: I finally found his webside: INTERFLUG

Not sure if D-AIHK got these two Interflug models from Ebay.de about two weeks ago [I was also in the races ], but if he did, then he did get them for much lower prices than the price 109EUR/model though.

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
All I'll remember is the 3 foot long Interflug IL-62 I used to see hanging off the wall in my city's local Interflug office and once that office closed down everything disappeared.

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
There used to be a huge Interflug Il62 hanging over a globe, in a large display case at the Alexanderplatz railway station, in East Berlin. Wether it survived the '89 uprising or not, I don't know. It would be nice to think that it's being cared for somewhere. The same goes for the lovely large Tu134, Il18, Il62, and the little 1/100 A310 that all 'lived' in the Interflug HQ in the city centre.

Keeping inline with this thread Neil, I think we should also ask you for a picture of your 1/72 IL-62!!!

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
MSR 777
I think the Interflug models you mentioned seeing in their office in East Berlin finished up in a model aircraft shop in West Berlin which I think is still there in the Kantstrasse called Aviation Centre. I went in there with a friend of mine in 1990 and they had of all things a three foot long model of the Il 96 airbus in the red and white (rather than white A310) livery, which must have come from the same source. My friend bought a Mayasichev "Bounder" supersonic bomber which was in a lovely if not accurate blue colour scheme and was a more managable 12 inches long, though still about 100 Pounds in 1990 money- I think the Il 96 was going for about 250 Pounds.

Re: Interflug Models 1:100
Hi Ralph, that's very interesting information, a 'red and white' Il96 wow! I did once find a model of the Soviet Myasishchev M4 Bison bomber, at a German 'flea market' Funnily enough, the Bison model is about the same size as the Bounder you mentioned, although my model is finished in silver. Wish I'd seen those IF models, glad someone had saved them, I bet the Il96 looked impressive. I do have a few giant Interflug posters, one of which shows a 'red and white' IL96, together with the 'white' A310.
