Dc8 1:50
Hello there, I have this huge metal model with its crate.
Anybody have a clue of what kind of model is this and how much it could be worth? Thank you. Michele

Well I just as well join the rest of the wolves :-).
I also sent you a private message. This model is probably by Fermo. It looks in excellent shape. Worth a fair sum of money.

Dino....That is so funny but so true !!!!!
In the end though, it is just a model, but I will admit a very nice one. I have never seen another one like this by Fermo. It's a good day when you see something new.

Looks just like the crate for my 1/50 Lufthansa 707 made by "Raise Up" of the Netherlands probably in the mid-1960s.

Re: Dc8 1:50
I also have this smaller Martin Air DC8, is only 18inch long. It is metal, no magnetic so I would say aluminum. I have no idea who is the manufacturer. It is in mint condition and I would like to sell it. Do you guys have an idea of what kind of model is this? Thanks. Michele

That is a Verkuyl. Nice model. Lots of them in Europe but not so many here. I would guess Ebay would bring you between $800 and $1600 for it. It always depends. On a private sale with no Ebay fees etc.... $1200 would be a good fit.
Now, for the members, don't come too hard on me. 3 years ago this model would have sold for $600 but it's almost doubled since. And, as we all know, you never know what Ebay would do. This model could sit there unsold or could go for 2K.

After you guys gave me a bit of education about the art of collecting
I would assume this is a Verkuyl. Am I right? Thanks for your help.
