Re: World's largest travel agent display model collection 4,000+ models
I can never compare to Mr.Sarigol and his impressive collection. Then again im just an aviation buff, not a pilot nor a business man. Nevertheless, does anyone know if he has a 1/24 American 747-123 cutaway like i do? lol. If so, then hes got it all lol

If i had the power of Mr.Sarigol, I would go to the airline graveyards and restore many of the classic airliners that are in store for the chopper. So many classics that have short times remaining. soon there will be nothing left for generations to see.

Re: World's largest travel agent display model collection 4,000+ models
Has he ever said how much the collection has cost him? How much has he spent on it? Would be fascinating to know! I think he's got some via his company (ground handling? - i.e for free) and some have been gifted. But, i wonder if, for example, he's spent $50,000 or $100,000 on it? Would put the collection in context. Also, I wonder what the collection is worth and whether he insures the collection?

Re: World's largest travel agent display model collection 4,000+ models
I think I see space to cram a few more on one shelf. Seriously,it is a rather impressive collection, and a huge job to dust and take care of. I don't really understand the envy angle? To me,if you have 50 models or 5000,it doesn't matter. Its your collection and you should be proud of it. This collection is enormous by volume, and several very tough finds I'm sure, but if 99% of the models are out of your criteria for collecting, you wouldn't enjoy it as much. I hope that made sense.

I can say that Gokhan spent a lot of money on 4250+ models, timetables, pens, other airline collectibles and you know that airline gifts are not vintage PacMin, Verkuyl models, Inflight200, only China-made resin, or snap-fit models. Certainly 10-15% are acquired as complimentary gifts, but all other items purchased on ebay, conventions, bought from private collectors... hundreds custom-made by Westway, Graphideco, from PacMin by his specifications.

Some beauties in there. I didn't see a 1/50 LOT Tu134 though, and there's no way that mine is going there, unless he parts with his Interflug equivalent

I keep his Collection updated, I have List of all his models, I confirm there is no 1/50 LOTU3, but two 1/50 LOIL6s. Obviously he can't get every model.

Hi Milos.
Yes, I spotted the LOT Il62s, very nice. As I said in my earlier post, he can have my 1/50 LOT Tu134, it's not expensive. A 1/50 Interflug Tu134 will secure it

Re: World's largest travel agent display model collection 4,000+ models
Milos
As Gokhan's inventory person, I was wondering when will the list of model that makes up his collection be published on his website. As a collector it would be certainly interesting to see what models have been made and by whom. I saw the TU-204 Iraqi model and instantly fell in love with it!
Also was Bader from Bahrain not hold the title for the largest collection of model aircraft or will Gokhan be going for a different title?
The model collection is certainly impressive and it's such a shame that the pictures on the website do not show the full collection. Does he have a favourite?
Regards
Ashley

Interesting to see that according to Milos he has a number of duplicate models.
Am I right in thinking that he collects but doesn't sell?
Milos - what is his collection criteria? Any logic to it?

Yes, you're absolutelly right. He likes to posses two or even three, four of each, sooner or later he add if available (i.e. four 1/100 PacMin Aeroflot IL-96s). Criteria: vintage PacMin, Verkuyl, better two than one, logic: He collects, but doesn't sell.
