this model is perfect what are you talking about. Engines are perfect, hump is perfect and tail crest is especially superb. Kudos to that guy.

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
Yes it is good enough for the purpose intended but if it was made for me, I would have made corrections and changes to it but as the model was already 2 months overdue, I didn't want it held up any longer as it was holding up other pending projects. The biggest issue is the drooping wings which based on the design of the original model cannot be corrected as they are held by 2 small metal rods going into the fuselage and those rods cannot be bent. That and the fact that these wings are heavier than on the original model. There used to be a TWA 747 in their local office here of the exact same size which also had hideously drooping wings which were supported by 2 steel poles propped under each wing tip which is where I got the idea to do the same here.

Only the PIA 742 is mine and an original model from 1976 while this SV 743 is a copied and locally made reproduction made for a travel agency here.

Your custom-made model is very good except hand-written SV letters, no decals used?

Those are not hand written letters. Those are vinyl cut decals.

With my respect, the Arabic letters are not well done... compare!

Milos, in Pakistan, resources are limited. Lettering among them.

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
Milos you are comparing everything with Pacmin. When Pacmin make models they used computer generated graphics from actual artwork submitted by Boeing which is printed out on special decal paper on Pacmin's own in-house printers. As we do not have decal printers here the artwork has to be copied by hand and then using a blotter cut into the same shape and size which is not easy. We had to do 2 prints of these decals to get close to the actual, correct size. This font was very difficult to replicate, it couldn't just be resized on the computer and printed out. If you see how Pacmin make their models and how this model was made then you would probably understand what all is involved which is why I'm not planning on making any more of these except for one which is still pending in the works for someone else. Its much too time consuming and involves too much running around.

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
Very nice Moin. I do like the Saudi livery, looks good on all their types. Did anyone take any pics during the making of this model? It sounds as though it was quite a monumental task. Well done to all involved.

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
Yes one needs to understand what is involved here in making these models. People only see the finished product without taking into consideration the resources, materials, manpower and machinery available. With Pacmin, they have been in this as a running business for 50 years and have everything at hand available to them hence one expects 100% accuracy and perfection, yet even they have turned out flawed models. In this situation, the chemicals to make the resin had to be acquired from one source, the paint, another source, the decals another source, the stand another source etc and all pieced together so if there are nicks in the paint or if the font is slightly off, that is something that has to be expected and to which I have resigned myself to. Furthermore, there is a monumental difference in the price of these models as opposed to the cost of having one specially made by Pacmin or some other professional model manufacturer, less than half the price of an original. The guy who made them took on more than he bargained for hence I'm not having any more made.
Here are some pics before it was completed:

Cool model....would have loved that old -300er series in previous QANTAS colours.
Pretty cool airline colours too. Or old SAA or CX.

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
Yes with this model there are so many possibilities i.e. SAA, Swissair, SIA, Aerosur etc but the market for this large a model is very limited hence I will not be having any more made. Its now on display in a corner of a travel agency.

Moin, I thank you for posting those 'in production' pictures. I was genuinely interested to see how it happened. Looks right at home in that travel agency!

Re: 1:32 Saudi Arabian 747-300.
I just received another request from another friend who wants one made for his travel agency but with a different theme. He wants a 747-100 in the original Pan Am 1970 delivery colors which he wants to hang from the ceiling. As yet undecided if I want to go through with it.

Thanks for sharing Moin. You are one of a very few people in the hobby who would do such a large project like that. I am sure the model will be enjoyed by all who see it.

Hm, usually taste is nothing to argue about, as everyone thinks different about it. However I think Landor BA is without a doubt one of, if not the best, airline livery ever. Distinctive, luxurious and THE style for a flag carrier. Shame it is no more around. The current one is just standard all white style, even the World Images were way better....

Great job Moin! as you are well aware, making things from scratch is real pain in the rear, but that job is out standing!!
I do have a 1/100 747-400 BA Landor that I would do if I had the means to do it now, I would never get rid of it, but larger scale wouls be nice!

I've heard of oversized people having to take up 2 seats in an airplane but this is the first time I am seeing an airplane take up 2 seats! (see first photo)
