Ok..so, here I am back from my well-deserved Hawaiian vacation. The whole trip really hit the spot, even though I've been to Honolulu 28 times. It's always a pleasure!
So..instead of flying Hawaiian Airlines, I chose United. Uh..ok. The CSRs were rude, flight attendants overweight or elderly (they have a union), and the seating was a horror story. They wanted to charge for the in-flight meal, but I don't even eat them for free. I brought a Quizno's sub sandwich instead. United is facing about 900 furloughs now, so I'll be seeing a lot of resumes come across the desk for airline types who've had just about enough! Corporate flying is better in my opinion..you get variety in your flight plan (as Dylan can attest to). These poor United guys get the same routes day in and day out. Anyway, going to HNL, I sat in the cattle car section with crying babies and my knees about a quarter of an inch away from the rear of the seat in front of me. I told myself..not on the way back!!! So..I upgraded to Economy Plus. "Window seat, please.." I asked the scowling CSR. Ok...she got my number, all right! I did get a "window" seat. See pic. Nuff said! |

Hahaha! I love the dreaded "No window at the window-seat...seat" For some weird reason, it makes me feel very claustrophobic.
I couldn't imagine working for an airline...and I can't imagine why anybody in their right mind would want to become an airline pilot. The trips are MUCH better, the pay is damn near the same these days, and everybody in my company knows me by first name. And no, I am not comparing to the regionals.....i'm comparing to the majors! The regional guys?? Poor bastards... Robert, the owner of the Excel just finished his house in Dana Point....looks like we will be going to KCRQ alot more. I have your contact info....so next time I'm down there, lets tear up the place!

Don't forget the most important thing other than respectable jobs and better pays, a totally pampered living environment and a lifestyle only to be envied... Once you live there, coming back to the lifestyle in North America will be hard to adjust back to for a while.
