Default RNO - Reno Nevada

Does anyone in the DAC fellowship live in Reno?

This summer I'm relocating from Long Beach CA to Reno. While there is not a lot of interesting plane spotting at RNO, there is the Reno Air Races. After many years of working for someone, I'll be a partner in ownership of a retail business with several locations in Reno.

Reno is a sh1thole...but good luck Tupi! At the airport, there is a killer little bar inside the FBO (Atlantic? can't remember) Good place to watch planes, eat some wings, and knock back many-a-cold-one's!!! I go there quite often, so at least you will have a beer drinking buddy once in a while.

There is a central core of the city that is a sh*thole. But there is a lot of new growth around this s-hole with high tech, corporate HQ's, new commercial and residential development. There's no state income tax and a house is 1/3 the price of one in LA. On top of all this, brothels are legal.

I'll be moved in by the end of summer, I'll buy you a beer in a sh*thole bar.

Tupo,

Other than getting together with Dylan for drinks, screw the airport. The only thing interesting about it is the approach phase of landing; wind currents are unsteady.

While others may see Reno as a crap hole, I see it as a quaint old city with some pretty damned exciting night life. But, because I was there for only a week back in '02, the daytime hours in Reno were limited as my dad and I were involved with the Virginia City Hill Climb event.

If you're into auto classics, Reno houses some beautiful cars at their National Museum. There are also art galleries, and performing arts that include popular and classical music as well as theatre. I did find a hobby shop but can't remember if there were model aircraft. I was more into trains at the time.

Watering holes are plentyful but I learned that a lot of construction is replacing many vacant lots with new condos.

As you know, there are some beautiful places outside of Reno that will take you to more watering holes and historical sites. Carson City (Railroad Museum), Truckee, Lake Tahoe (I missed Peter Frampton by a few days), Virginia City, Silver City and Dayton (the ladies are hot if you know what I mean).

Picture of my dad coming in from the five mile hill climb, Virginia City. After a couple times going up myself, I got queasy and told my pop that I'm going to Dayton for some female company. His only reply was: "Do you need extra money?"

Thanks for information. I checked out the Reno area before deciding to relocate there. As with any city there is good and bad. But so far I have found more good then bad in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. There is lots of beautiful areas to explore around the Reno area.

I last visited Reno in the late '60s, and the Harrah's Auto Museum was there at the time. That was a most awesome collection, and for a 13 year old kid, made me a lifelong car fanatic.

When I read RNO, I think of Royal National Orchestra.

Not sure if there is one, but there certainly in an SNO, Scottish National Orchestra, which has also been known as the RSNO.

But when the daily remit is multiple short hops between tiny bumpy strips in a climate that flickers from the blustery to the apocalyptic, this sturdy little craft is hard to beat.'

It's now the National Auto Museum. I drove by it today. I will visit it sometime over the summer. I'm looking forward to the Reno Air Races Sept. 10-14.

Reno Air Racing Association - National Championship Air Races and Air Show

I looked at houses today very close to Reno Stead Field where the races are held in North Reno.

Those magical experiences are priceless. I still thank my dad for taking us kids to classic shows and races back in the '60s.

We still visit the classic auto shows when they come to town. He's very knowledgeable about these autos and shows me the unique mechanical workings of these beauties. Amazing technology through the years.
