If you're a fan of actor William Shatner, "Star Trek" or "Boston Legal" and had the chance to meet Shatner, what would you ask him?
I'm actually interviewing him tomorrow, and notes, bios and the internet aside, I'm at a loss for some questions a true fan would ask. Your help is much appreciated! todd |

Ask him about his days as T.J. Hooker.

Better yet, ask him what it was like directing the worst POS Star Trek movie, "The Final Frontier".

Another suggestion, seriously, is what were his feelings on the death of Capt. Kirk.

Honestly...his mild case of egotitis will help carry the interview. What is the interview for? I did a junket with him and we talked about his career and his rebirth in television...how he came roaring back with character types you'd never think Captain Kirk would be good with. Compliment him, ask some easy open-ended "How did..." questions and you'll be good to go.
I wouldn't suggest trying to get that uber-fan question answer (unless you have a genuine desire to know something specific.) Think about it - the guy has been one of the main attractions for Star Trek fans for over 30 years - he's been asked everything already. |

1) Will We See A Cameo Appearance/s In The New Upcoming Star Trek Series? (Not As Kirk Of Course)
2) Why Star Trek In The First Place? Why Not Another Genre. 3) Why Did He Not Audition For Some Of The Star Wars Trilogy? Or Other Sci-Fi Such As Babylon 5? 4) When Will He Retire From Show Business? 4b) What (To Him) Is The Perfect Retirement? 5) Thoughts On The Passing Of James Doohan. 6) Thoughts On The Passing Of Gene Roddenberry (That's Prolly Been Asked Millions Of Times) For Starters But You Should Ask Your Own Questions If You Want To Be A Journalist. |

When is the next diecast model of the Enterprises coming out, what company is it, and in what scale??
![]() Seriously though, what does he make of all the spoofs there have been over the years, like Star Quest? Have there ever been any that he's not been happy about??

..... Never met Shatner.
..... I met James Doohan at a train museum in Lancaster, PA. I thought it was him and when I asked, his answer gave me no doubt. We talked about trains. The guy was a first class train nut. Nice guy, quick smile, friendly, very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. ..... Met George Takai at an air show. Nice guy. Didn't know he was gay then, but it wouldn't have mattered either. .... Got to chat briefly with Nichelle Nicholes at a show exhibiting various product and services. No sign saying who she was so she was free to chat as apparently no one recognized her. Lovely lady and nice. ..... the lone person from any Star Trek I actually met at a Star Trek event was Michael Dorn. Naturally with all the Trekkies lined up to see him the time was limited. ..... Since Shatner got his break with his two "Twilight Zone" appearances, might ask him about how he felt about those. Dave Last edited by dboyd001; 05-15-2008 at 11:29 AM. Reason: I kant spel |

I met Michael Dorn at an airport once. He taxied up in his privately owned and nicely restored F-86 Sabre. I heard that he's since then sold it and bought a T-38, but that's probably rumor control. As with any celebrity, if you talk about something that they show a common interest in, they'll talk to you a bit. Start acting like a gushing teenager who is star-struck and they'll exit stage left!

You guys, thanks so much for all the input! Some of it came a bit too late to be considered for the interview. However, I certainly appreciate it.
I'll try to post the interview on YouTube in the next few days and will include a hotlink on this thread. Take care! |
