Default I like Sports - Games (What are you into ?)

A little detour from our Aviation Collecting hobby...

Just thought of sharing my new hobby, I like biking alot, especially downhill or dirtjumps and just today I had this chilling feeling when I discovered this awesome bike, and since the weather is getting hotter, I just had to purchase this Custom fitted MTB.
Will be delivered next week, Im so excited..

I payed about 1200 USD for this custom fitted MTB.

Here's the seller's snapshots.

If you're also into sports, games or whatever, please share with us.

Cool bike! I've been mountain biking a few times in Colorado... TONS of fun. I played baseball through high school, and am into weightlifting.

ROWING!! ROWING!! ROWING!!

I'm a single sculler.

There's not a more utterly worthwhile and satisfying way to pass the time than just simply messing about in boats

Also Curling, I play for my local team (not very difficult, granted).

Then also, running, walking, cycling, sailing, rock climbing .....

..... in short, just about anything except for football, golf and tennis!

Above all, I just cannot STAND bloody W*mbledon!!
I lock myself away or better still, go somewhere very very far away for the duration of the wretched thing.

It wouldn't be so bad, but we have to endure the complete absurdity that is Britain going tennis mad for all of about 2 weeks of every year, and then, that's it again 'till next year, and if you aren't part of it, then you are seen as some sort of freak or grouch for not joining in on the party!!

'C'mon Henman! c'mon Murray!!'
Nnnnnngggg!!

A bit like the World Cup or the Olympics, but at least they have the decency not to be every single ****ing year. And actually happen to be interesting

Excellent ride for the hills C-Rex. I always check out the X-Games coverage for bicycle, motor cycle, skiing and skateboard events.

Probably the best throttle jockey to win the grueling Tour de France was Pee-Wee Herman in 1985. It was pedal to the metal and Mr. T cereal that one him that dream; no drugs.

^^Sadly We don't have "mountains" here in DK, only very low hills and a few forests, It's pretty flat as a pancake.. Guess the hills in Sweden is calling on me instead

If you guys have snapshots, please upload away.

Hold yer horses, I'm currently downloading my pictures from some regattas, although I've got to go to the hospital for a check up ina few mins and then I'll be at the rowing club again tonight, slaving over a hot Ergo.

I have no pictures of myself though (thankfully!).

Here's the tiny lot I have up so far, although I'm about to add the other clubs too:

Default My sports

..... Sports I played?
  • Ice hockey: being Canadian not hard to figure. Love the game and miss being in it. Peewee (not Herman), high school, amateur, semi-pro, pro (before the unions). Played in a men's league here until 1999 when I got another concussion and therefore wife forbid me to play anymore (sigh)
  • Running: competitive in high school, for my own fitness since. Ran & finished two marathons (whew!). Can't do that any more either or I'd end up on the hospital cardiac ward.
  • Softball: not really any good, but it was fun for several years in a get up league.
  • Walking: That's about all I can do now, cardiologist-approved and safe. Walk about 2.5 miles each morning.
..... I played in lots of other sports, but none on a long-term or consistent basis. I need a bike, but can't afford it at the moment (maybe I should buy fewer models?).

Hockey
Yeah, I am a avid fan, wanted to play when I was a kid but not that many opportunities and not every high school had it, nor we had any junior league or others like in Ontario and Quebec. I have been watching it for several years and have tons of sports cards. I still get them today!

Baseball
Living in Chicago, and a southsider, I am a White Sox fan and have been for a long time. Even when they won the World Series in 2005. I still go to their games and since AI2008 is in Dallas and the White Sox are playing the Rangers that weekend, I may attend one of the games there.

Football/Soccer
The Bears? Not a big fan. Arena Football which is more tougher and a small field which makes it more fun, I am a fan of. Soccer, the Chicago Fire are doing very good and I hope to see one of their games and them win a cup.

Other sports, weightlifting, cycling, and the strongman competition I like watching them try to throw those kegs over a bar and other things they have them do. Let's see them pull a 777 like a horse for a few hundred feet.

C-Rex ... I currently go for daily nature walks/hikes and occasional mini golf (sometimes outdoors, sometimes indoor glow in the dark).
Have never tried "real" golf before. Also, go 5 pin bowling occasionally and ache for days afterwards in places I didn't know existed on the human body! The joy of being in the 40's.

Back in the "old days" (childhood and teenage years) ... played softball, basketball, volleyball ... other stuff: jogging, ice skating, rollerskating, tennis, badminton, croquet, horseback riding, swimming, biking, etc. Tried cross country skiing and snowshoeing once each.

Watching on tv - hockey and baseball.

Jo

Oh snap. The worst thing that ever happened to me was a pretty busted up elbow, got bent the other way, I hit a tree on the way down, that was like 6 years ago though.

You have "experienced" alot. That's amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Gonna respect you for the cross country skiing though, that's really awesome. A very enduring sport. But I haven't heard about Snowshoeing though, what's that, maybe it exist in other languages but haven't heard the word before.

Nice thread C-Rex, I'm also into MTB's and competed in last year's Scott 24 hour MTB race in Canberra. Here's a some of pics of me during the race;

Seriously, yes, I had to stop rowing and curling for a while as I injured my hand and fingers in an accident and couldn't bend them to grip the things properly.
Would have been sore with all that pressure anyway.

Then, after that, one thing after another happened (I'm quite accident prone anyway) and before I knew it, I hadn't rowed in almost 5 months
Quite frustrating, let me tell you!

These things happen, you've just got to get back up, dust yourself down and keep going.

That's pretty awesome. I'd like to join active on something, but still haven't got time to research about it. I think you're the best man to ask about this kind of question around here.

1 - How do one qualify to join in such endurance race ?

Thanks for the pictures. Very inspiring.. Sir !

Get your 3 and 4 legged friends involved!!

I have run on and off, but there is one thing I want to do when the season starts again in September/October:

CaniX UK: home of Canicross UK and running with dog
