Default Need help from computer tecs (Drive question)

My laptop is pretty much "full". It freezes when I want to see a video on the internet.
I tried to clean it up by removing "non" important stuff like the google earth, photoviewing programs except the photoshop.

I had it formatted about 1 year ago, and the dude who did the job only divided the C-drive (20GB) vs D-drive (60GB)
The C-drive is pretty much full and I tried to delete to save space, but everything that is left on the computer is vital programs that I am using for photography and movie-making programme and stuff.

Is it possible to edit the drives so that it is equally on each drive.. for example: 40gb / 40gb. without having to format it ?

Or does it require me to start over by reformatting it and make the new divided drives ?

I've had to reformat my computer a number of times. I usually format the C drive, while leave the D drive as it is....of course, once the C is formatted I have to reload all the software, but the other files and folders in D remain as they initially were.

If your question is whether if you can increase the C drive by 20, and reduce the D by 20 to make it an even 40/40 I guess you would have to reformat the whole thing and allocate the 40/40 accordingly at start up. However someone else can answer this.

Look it up in search (google) under 'partition without format.' You will need a specific software to do what you're trying to do, unless if you don't mind wiping out the entire drive.

I have found that one called something with "Magic" but was adviced not to use it anyway cause it can damage the C-partition. *sigh*
I want to try it, but I'm afraid it would fook it up.

That's the thing I want to do. But I think in the end, it'll be best for me to reformat and start from scratch again. Thanks guys for your replies.

Hi,

There is a program called : System Mechanic professional
You can download a 30 day trial version of it . It's one of the greates software that cleans up / optimized and secure your computer.

I am an IT expert and been using it even on $30k servers. I suggest everyone uses it, specially if you use Internet alot.
Here is the link to it :
Download System Mechanic® 7 Professional

You can PM me regarding what is the best setting to do maximum clean up.

There are some software around that can devide disk drive to different sizes without deleting them, however there is "no" guarantee. I don't advise to use those programs.
Stay away from "Partion Magic" if you computer knowledge is not high. It can corrupt your data seriously !
Any question , please ask !

Regards,
Ben
