Default Agnetha and Frida, the voices of ABBA

Although ABBA was caught up in the disco era, they still marched to their own tunes.

Songs like "Chiquitita", "Fernando" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You" prove that Agnetha and Frida are the Simon and Garfunkel of women artists. Chiquitita is a very powerful song that ABBA performed beautifully at Wembley Stadium in 1979.

I always thought the band members were Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid, or does Anni-Frid go by Frida?

I was recognizing the ladies for their beautiful singing. Benny and Bjorn rate with the best of them in composing music and performing it. What a powerhouse group they were.

Anni-Frid also went by Frida.

Great video there, Steve! Although I can't say that I am a HUGE fan of ABBA, but I do also like "Take A Chance On Me" and "Thank You For The Music" on top of the three songs you listed above. If you are really an ABBA fan, then may I suggest that you check out the Broadway show of "Mamma Mia" when you're in NY.

"Take A Chance On Me" has reminded me a number of times to take confidence in a developing relationship. In "Thank You For The Music", you can really hear Agnetha's accent.

I was out of town when "Mamma Mia" performed here in Norfolk this past October. I'll catch it next time around.

As ABBA sings, "you gotta have rock-n-roll to fill that hole in your soul."

I Was 12 When Mama Mia Was A Hit! I Bought All Their Previous Albums As Well As The Greatest Hits Album Back In 1975, A Treasure At The Time For A 12 Year Old. It Was Like Winning The Lottery Owning That Many Abba Records! Of Course I Did Eventually Get All 8 Original Albums Up Until The Visitor)

In 1977 They Went On A World (Australian Actually But I Think They Did Other Gigs That Year Including Scotland) Tour With The New Record "The Album"
They Leased A Qantas 747 Complete With Their Trademark Name In Billboard Size Across The Fuselage.
Been Trying To Find Pics Of It But No Avail.
It Was All Captured On Film In Abba: The Movie.

Actually, I was confused by the initial "Agnetha and Frida" statement, since I didn't realize Anni-Frid went by that name also. I actually had their greatest hits compilation, and like their up-beat music, Agnetha's voice with the slight accent was very sweet. I don't care if it makes me seem strange, but I liked a lot of the Disco Era music, was hitting the club scene in those days and it was a great time for me. Like my brother pointed out, this was happy music, made to make you want to dance. How much music put out now can make you feel that way?

Maybe the present music can not make you dance... but it can certainly make you go insane.

"Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen."

There's something wrong about someone with a 20 y/o daughter saying those lyrics out loud so I guess I better keep it to myself. It is also probably a jail-able offense in this day and age.

Grew up with my parents playing ABBA in our Volvo 244DL on long journeys. Their music still gets people out of their seats at parties! The younger generation love them too. My daughter plays her ABBA CD nearly every day.

I didn't have a single ABBA album back then. I didn't even have much of an album collection for any group. I just depended on radio and parties. Today is much different. I got my ABBA fill with three DVDs and two CDs.

I can't find a picture of ABBA's leased aircraft, but I read that a Swedish businessman was awarded a contract to convert an ex-Transjet Airways 747 into a youth hostel at Arlanda Airport.

Heck, I still can't pronouce Agnetha's name. Like you, I enjoy disco music and there's a couple of clubs in my area that caters to the disco era once a week.

Young or old, when someone is trying to belt out a tune, it transcends stereotypical thinking.

England's fan base took a few years to grow, but there was no looking back afterwards. Over the years, England had the most loyal fans

You're talking about Agnetha. Just to add, her story telling eyes show a vulnerability with the songs she sings.

Doh...

Yup I meant sweet Agnetha.

Agree about your comment of her.

I could just sit there and listen to her voice over and over again.

One of Agnetha's solo hits, "Wrap Your Arms Around Me" makes me melt like the lollypop she's working on.

Yeah, I read Frida's bio about the fact that she was sent to Sweden as a child to escape the verbal attacks concerning her parents. Her Norwegian mother married a Nazi officer during German occupation.

They Were The Only Racords I Had From A Single Group. I Had Two K-Tel Compilation Records Which Had A Large Selection Of GREAT Music & Were Cheap At 4.95. Bands' Albums Typically Sold 6.95-7.95 (Some as High As 9.95) Which Was Quite A Lot Of Money Back Then. Nobody Had Money That I Knew Of So Most Depended On Radio As Well. Trouble Is, They Never Played Enough Nor Did The Play The Tremendous Variety The Greatest Hits Album Had To Offer. Had To Have It & After That, I Couldn't Get Enough, So I Bought The 3 Originals. They Were Cheap, But The The Greatest Hits Was 11.95 Because It Was A Double Album. That Was 2 Months' Allowance For Me For That ONE Record, But It Was Worth It.
Had My First Slow Dance With A Chick That Was Older Than Me (And HOT!) That Year. Oh The Days Gone By... What Memories. The Song Was Fernando To Boot!

I Must Have Listened To That Song THOUSANDS Of Times!
I Wore Out 2 Of Those Records, But Of Course Now Have The CD.
Oh, And I Was Already Well Aware Of Anita's Nice High Pitched Voice From The Original Albums. It Pops Up Quite Often. It's Also Quite Distinguishable In Most Chorus'
