Default Number of jet engines?

If Antonov An-225 is considered to be the largest airplane...is it also the only one with 6 engines? And how many planes have 4 engines?

B-52 had 8. I guess this 6 engined bomber is a B-47. Many airliners have/had 4 jet engines, especially at the beginning of the jet era : B 707, DC-8, VC-10, Il-62. When it comes to military aircrafts, only bombers have 4 or more.

The B-36D had eight engines also. I can't think of any aircraft that has or had more than eight. The An-225 is the only commercial aircraft with six engines. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two other aircraft not mentioned that had six engines: the B-47 and the XB-70. There might be some pre-WWII planes that had that many.
Oops, the B-47 did get mentioned.

Is it engines or jet engines, as in the title? If it's the latter, the Spruce Goose & B-36 don't qualify.

The original question dealt with engines, but the title of the thread was jet engines, sooo.... The B-36D was a jet-turboprop, and used two booster jets, but you're right, technically it wasn't a jet aircraft.

Commercial has cargo applications, too... It is a commercial CARGO aircraft for hire.

Actually, if you want to be technical, the XB-70 had 6 engines...they were removed when the plane went on display. And it wasn't a production aircraft. So actually, no other aircraft presently has six engines. There's been talk of upgrading the B-52 to 4 large GE engines, but nothing has come of that.

If we're dealing with jet engines only, then almost everything as been said. Now the record holder for the greatest number of engines fitted is probably the Dornier Do.X, with no less than 12 engines !

"Only" eight engines but of great interest was the Caproni Ca.60 :
Caproni CA-60 triple triplane flying boat

"Despite it's massive size, it was merely a prototype for a 150 seater designed to cross the Atlantic." They really didn't fear death!

Well, the Dash-80 was more of a prototype plane than commercial. The Dash 80 broke into the 707/720 (Commercial) and 717 (now better known as KC-135).

Funny, no one's mentioned the MD-160 Lun ekranoplane, a wing-in-ground effect aircraft the Soviets built back in the '80s. It had eight engines. Ok, so it only flew a few metres off the water, but it's still a plane!
